Hidden away in a quiet residential suburb, this charming Italian restaurant proved to be the perfect setting for our birthday celebration. Despite the rainy evening, there were ample parking both on-site and along the street. We were seated under a glazed canopy with bifold windows, which, though closed due to the wet weather, created a comfortable and cozy atmosphere. Love the bench with lots of pillows. The highlight of our experience was undoubtedly the exceptional service, particularly from the restaurant manager. His willingness to accommodate our friend's dietary restrictions by tailoring a pasta dish showed a commitment to customer satisfaction that set the tone for the evening. Our meal consisted of a delightful array of dishes: a seafood hotpot brimming with flavors, a perfectly balanced truffle oil pizza that didn't overwhelm the taste, two pasta dishes - one with a rich carbonara sauce and another featuring olive oil, garlic, and succulent prawns - and a beautifully cooked steak from the daily specials. Each dish was a testament to the kitchen's skill and attention to detail. The truffle oil pizza, in particular, stood out for its well-balanced flavors, while the steak was cooked to perfection, exactly as requested. We were extremely full after our dinner so we did not have any desserts, but we did see that the manager bringing out samples of the desserts on a platter for the other diners to aid in selection. Overall, our dining experience was a delightful blend of tasty cuisine, attentive service, and a warm, inviting atmosphere, making it an ideal spot for special occasions or a cozy night out. We...
Read moreDisappointed would be an understatement. After over a year away—since moving to Wahroonga—I decided to make the trip back to Il Posto, craving a proper wood-fired pizza. Sadly, the experience was nothing like I remembered.
It was immediately clear the original owner was no longer there, and the team behind the counter had changed. I kept an open mind and placed my order: a few pizzas and a tiramisu. I paid upfront, but after receiving the pizzas, I had to follow up about the tiramisu—only to be told it was unavailable. They offered three alternative desserts, so we chose the cheesecake.
What arrived was a single slice—for $14. That price for one small piece felt like a blatant rip-off, and I made it clear I wouldn’t be paying for it.
Now, the pizzas—what a letdown. Why buy a business with a loyal customer base only to completely change what made it great? The garlic and cheese pizza had no cheese at all and was dry and bland, like biting into cardboard. To make matters worse, we were charged an extra $6 for that missing cheese—an insult, really. The Fuoco Mio had barely any hot salami, and the Gamberi pizza was totally flavorless.
Out of curiosity, we looked at recent reviews and noticed a pattern—many 5-star ratings from accounts with similar backgrounds, which raises questions about their authenticity. One review even appeared to be written by the manager or owner, praising themselves—if that’s not a conflict of interest, I don’t know what is.
You’ve lost a loyal customer, and I truly hope you take this feedback seriously. Without quality food and honest service, no business...
Read moreI hope the new owners take this feedback constructively. Having been to il posto previously I was very excited to see them on Menulog for delivery. Ordered 2 pizzas and the delivery came on time however the pizzas were cold, no exaggeration, not even luke warm, it was cold. I only live maximum 15 minutes away and it still arrived cold. Not sure if the issue was the delivery driver or the pizza was just sitting there waiting for the driver, either way as a customer it arrived cold. This meant I needed to reheat in my oven, and had to wait a further while before I could finally have my dinner! The margherita pizza was ok but lacking in tomato flavour, base was a little burnt - no biggie I can deal with that given it is woodfired. The tartufo pizza was totally inedible as the base was fully burnt as per the photos and very bitter as a result, tried to scrape off the toppings but by now this is no longer a pizza is it if you're only eating the toppings. The bottom of the box was also very oily for some reason. I'm not sure how the base got so burnt as the top of the pizza looked good and wasn't burnt but on first bite and turning the pizza upside down, it was...
