La Thai is a truly professional hidden gem in the local area, with its amazing food and impeccable service, along with a wonderful atmosphere full of music and decorations.

The prawn and crab netted rolls taste delicious. They are soft and crunchy. The salt and pepper squid are excellent, due to its tender taste and its flavored seasoning. The Mee Grob has a sweet, crunchy taste. The Tom Kha has fish in it, which adds to its slightly spicy, slightly salty taste. The ingredients in the soup, including the fish, mushrooms and cherry tomatoes are fresh and taste delicious. The presents to one of the Lanna Thai was wrapped in foil with an obvious design, thus it is presented well. The cashew nuts tastes exceptionally well, and it is full of ingredients. The Phuket Fanta Sea tastes good. The taste of the sweet coconut dipped in curry sauce tastes exceptionally great. The seafood tasted fresh. The barramundi in the Half Moon Fish is well designed, and tastes great. The beef in the ‘crying tiger’, however, does not taste as good as some other restaurants, but it was mostly okay. The roti tasted okay. Overall, the food is great, except for some food which tastes a bit too spicy and salty compared to others, which don’t have much flavour in it.

The staff in La Thai is very generous, providing generous amounts of rice and delicious dessert, which is cherry and watermelon, tasting fresh and sweet. They also gave me free Mentos. They are quick in helping me out in things such as providing me with cutlery and tissues.

The atmosphere is full of welcoming lights, and there are mirrors hanging on the wall. The wall is painted black. Plants are decorated in the restaurant. The background music is calming. I highly recommend you to dine in...

We did not end up dining at the place but still feel the need to review based on the attitude of the manager which I felt was a poor representation of what would otherwise be a very nice place.

To be reasonable we notified the restaurant of our cancellation quite late because my partner came down with a flu like sickness very quickly and at about 11am we thought it best to conduct a RAT which came out +ve. As we aren't locals to Sydney our primary goal was to get our work commitments back home in order since we can't go back for the week. So we forgot to inform the restaurant of our 12.30pm booking cancellation until 12.40pm.

However this is where the problem begins. The manager attended the call and told us we should come anyways since he had already turned back customers. I understand it is a financial loss for the restaurant however actively encouraging customers with covid to come to his restaurant is EXTREMELY concerning. When I told him this he suggested we could sit outside instead. Firstly I don't consider this a reasonable solution and secondly if my partner is sick having her sit outside is obviously not convenient for her. So he wasn't showing any consideration for us either.

I understand there are no LEGAL or government mandates restriction in place any more but after almost 3 years of covid I feel like we all have the common sense to not have people with covid out and about actively let alone dining in a public restaurant. The fact the manager condones this is very disappointing and concerning for the health and safety of our community.

Decor and ambience look great and the staff that helped me book were brilliant. Loved their service. Just dissappointed with management. Dine at...

Visited on a lovely summer evening and sat in the outdoor dining area which had wonderful ambiance.

The food was really yum, the Siam Paradise, the green curry and the barramundi dish were standouts, would highly recommend. I don’t usually eat rice for dinner but the green curry and the Siam paradise went so well with rice that I ate almost a full bowl! The flavors were well balanced and not too sweet. The papaya salad was very refreshing albeit on a little on the chilli side, but don’t let that scare you, I know I will just ask for less chilli next time. The most important part of the mango sticky rice and what makes it excellent in my opinion is when the sticky rice is well seasoned, not too sweet but with a hint of savouriness to balance it out. This was definitely well balanced!

I’ve had their takeout a few times during covid (PSA: it’s cheaper to order direct than through food delivery platforms) and finally came to try their food in person. This did not disappoint, great service and is a wonderful neighbourhood restaurant with people who clearly put a lot of heart into their food. The staff, particularly Joe and Imm, are really the nicest people who support the local community through volunteering and gave out free meals to people during the difficult covid lockdown....

⭐⭐ I usually visit this restaurant with my family about once a week because we like the food. However, today’s experience was quite disappointing. I went straight to the counter to order and paid immediately. Then, I pointed to my table and told the staff that I would be dining in. After some time, the staff brought my food in takeaway packaging. I told them that I had ordered for dine-in, but they insisted that I had asked for takeaway. I never said that, yet they kept repeating that the food was already packed and there was nothing they could do. Even though I decided to eat at the table, having to open the takeaway containers and eat from them made the experience very unpleasant. If they had simply transferred the food to proper plates, I wouldn’t have minded as much. But their unwillingness to acknowledge the mistake or offer any solution was frustrating. I hope they improve their service because this was an unfortunate experience at a place we usually enjoy.

I really want to rate this higher because it seems like a very beloved place and service was very very nice and affable. However, our mains were extremely salty and I am by no means a sodium hater. There was definitely potential as the aromatics were still delicious. Prices are reasonable but the portions are a bit small (pad thai was defs a smaller than average even for Sydney !). I think we may have been on an off night as this place does have great reviews. I liked the starters which was the crispy vermicelli rice noodles and the netter crab and prawn spring rolls (those were excellent !). The desserts were ok but felt simply reheated. P.S this doesn't affect the rating but I noticed another review with a pic stating this restaurant was dog friendly. It is not dog friendly! Even in the terrace area as we were informed by staff that dogs weren't actually allowed. So just an FYI to ignore the reviews that state they are!
