Ok, so here's the deal. This place is pretty great. It's basically a little shack off the side of the highway. Lots of outdoor seating, a wonderful drink selection, and great fish. Obviously the fish and chips are what people stop for. You can even get higher quality fish if you'd prefer that. Barramundi is on the menu. The sustainable sea bass is what we call it back in the States. I would have given more stars if the burger(I know) I ordered hadn't come on stale bread that had the texture of being microwaved to revive it but was accidentally left in too long. I'm staying at a vegan retreat with my fiance and just needed some meat. I tried both the basic fried fish and a burger just to make sure I get my iron and b vitamin intake for the day. The fried fish was a delight and it was obvious that it was a whole filet of fish. It was only but not too oily. The breading was also a delight. The chips were pretty basic. Just some steak cut fries maybe a little over done. Then the burger. What a disappointment. Someone else mentioned "the lot" in their review so I decided to have a go at it. This thing had cheese, a fried egg, caramelized onions, BBQ sauce (my choice when asked), bacon, a burger Patty, tomato, lettuce, pineapple, and beets. I'm not sure I would have liked all of those items nor ordered it if that had all been described on the menu but I'm all about living the dream and decided to just go for it. Oh well. Live and learn. Don't order the burger at a fish and chips joint and don't order crab cakes at a diner. Would definitely have given this place 4 stars had I not...

The most unhygienic place I've been, Flys in the display case , salad looks like it's been there for days , the fish on the ice in the display looked dry and faded , unwelcoming and poor customer service I've encountered, the man was very grumpy , the female cooking was like she's high on some sort of drug or just woke up 3 mins before we entered , she was not wearing any gloves while taking out the fish from the display , as she had artificial nails and I only wonder what could have been under her fingernails or does she at least wear gloves when she's in the bathroom while she wipes, she was touching the paper towel dispenser wich was as dirty as anything, the service by another lady was poor we were the only ones there and she calls out like there's a million people waiting for order she said "salt?" "What one?, plain or chicken?" In a rude tone voice no smiles no thank you have a nice day no enjoy your meal or anything ,we come to the car to eat squeeze the lemon which tastes horrible, it was biter lemon , the chips were undercooked and the fish was slimey and loaded with batter to cover the fish so good that we don't see it, the slime that was all over that fish and the batter being so greasy made me want to throw up, I had stomach pains after eating it and felt the urge to either let it out one hole or the other, shame how we drive 1 hour just to have a decent meal and they give us disgusting service and food , waste or money waste of time and now I know why that place is not...

On a wet and windy afternoon on our way home from a tough hike in the royal national park we had passed this place on the way up and the name is what lured us in on the way home expecting something magical but when I walked in it was basically just a convenience store that also sold fish and chips , I still had high hopes as there was a handful of people gathered inside that I expect had also been duped by the name , ordered two barramundi and chips along with a chicken burger waited for a while then when food was ready they had forgot to do the chicken burger so I told them don’t worry it’s ok forget about it then she told me she already had it on while we were still standing there talking about it not being made so I said ok and waited for it while my fish and chips which were already in my hand went cold as I watched them put my chicken burger on . Got all the food and went outside to eat and lifted it out of the bag and seen they had put a pile of napkins on top of my fish which had made them go all soggy and stick to it along with the fact they forgot to put a lemon in each box and as for the chicken burger I took one look at it and just binned it see...

I stopped by here on a Saturday for a quick bite, and with time being something of a consideration, I decided to just order a small chips, not wanting to be delayed if the fish took too long to be cooked. While the chips were being prepared, I spotted the cabinet of Pat and Stick's icecream sandwiches, and purchased one of these as well. I needn't have been concerned about the preparation time, the chips were ready quite quickly, I took these and the icecream and sat in the outdoor seating area, with the busy Princes Highway as a backdrop. The chips cost $6, but there was a generous amount for a small serving. They were well fried and delicious, featuring a broad, flat cut. The local cockatoos must be enthusiasts of these chips as well, one waited patiently for one to be offered, but was ultimately disappointed. The icecream sandwich was quite nice as well. I was very pleased with my experience here, good service and delicious food. Next time I visit, I'll take my chances and order some fish as well, and perhaps I'll be more generous towards the local cockatoo community 😉
