Suolo Cafe North Rocks — Restaurant in Sydney

I heard about their coffee and saw the pages of coffee trivia on their website. When I went there (Saturday the 16th of Jan), I was quite inquisitive. I asked the waiter for single origin. She didn’t understand. I then spoke to the barista and she told me they only have a blended variety and that’s it. Not impressed with that start. Anyway we ordered coffee and then we chose our breaky. We ordered at the counter. While the total bill was about 38 bucks, they were asking me for a surcharge on a visa debit card!!??!! I am not fussed about the money here but why surcharge for an amount as that? They couldn’t answer so I cancelled all our orders, walked out, went to copper and cocoa cafe and enjoyed their single origin coffee as well as good breaky without any mysterious and questionable surcharge added to the bill. Agree that I didn’t taste the Suolo food but I don’t go to a cafe for their food or drink only, it’s the overall experience that matters and the fact that they need to keep up to what they advertise. Whilst this is nothing against the lovely staff there, I feel the lack of coffee awareness and the surcharge points to the owner. I am disappointed. I usually am the coffee person for my friends and colleagues and they rely on me for info re new cafes or coffee bean availability. Suolo is not going to...

I came in at 3.35pm with my children, I know it was close to closing time so I wasn't expecting a lot of food given, that I had allergy restrictions, but I was told there was nothing that could be catered to my needs. Not even hot chips.

I settled for a medium chai, a small hot chocolate, a babychinno and a macaroon.

Despite paying more for a medium, and only requiring a baby sized serving for the babychinno, I ended up with 3 small cup sized drinks.

Unfortunately the taste of the drinks wasn't anything special either, in fact it is probably one of the worst chai lattes I have had, and my son said the hot chocolate didnt taste good.

Paying almost $20, with stone cold service and lack of care, I wont be coming back and I am dissapointed I wasted...

Good food, good coffee. The spicy shakshuka is delicious and spicy!

My gripe is that there’s an instant surcharge charged to your card for using eftpos. There’s no mention of it, no signs. And when it’s queried, they blame their bank for charging it. I run a business and of course my bank charges fees for eftpos. All banks charge fees! but I don’t need to add this to the bill, let alone blame my bank. All banks charge fees.
