Ordered my favourite French toast croissant today and whole thing felt quite different to what it used to be under the old management. There was not enough syrup to make to sweet, pretty sure there used to be cinnamon too and there were quite a lot of strawberries cut in quarters, now there are only some tiny pieces from like 1-1.5 strawberries. The take away burger is just odd, there are chips from seemingly supermarket packets and not hot fried chips, it feels like some teenager just designed this dish. I just don’t get it….packet chips?? The guy who I guess is one of the new owners was out there serving and greeting customers but apart from that the foods are just edible and same as what other reviews said they are no longer feel fresh and exciting. I get that things are expensive nowadays but if people are out I think they are probably happy to pay that extra dollar or two and actually get a fresh meal, rather than already forking out a certain amount and get something so underwhelming. It was Sunday morning and it’s no longer as busy as it used to be. I wonder why. I want the old owner back!

Probably one of the worst cafes we ever tried. Staff at the counter was rushing the order and gave us a flat white which was 90% water with lil milk and coffee. When we told her, she said it is full-cream, and disagreed with our concern. Thanks to the man at counter who accepted the issue and replaced with another coffee which was atleast drinkable. Food was terrible too. Ordered a burrito which had spinach overly blanched and fluid dripping down the whole time. The big breakfast was no less than worst. Thanks for giving us one long hair in between our big breakfast platter. Ruined brunch time for us. Not sure how people even come over there for having such type of food.

The recent negative reviews are correct, unfortunately. It’s really that bad. The photos displayed online don’t matched the actual food. The chicken tacos (attached) have no avocados, dried chicken (not crumbed), only 2 small tacos for ~$20. The rainbow pancake (attached) looks sad, with store bought cream and one tiny scoop of ice cream. There were 5 employees around and only 2 tables to serve, but only 2 employees were working, the others just chatting by themselves. We could spend less at Norwest mall’s cafe for lunch for a much better food and service. Wouldn’t recommend at all.

This cafe has recently changed management.

Previously, the breakfast burrito was excellent and had delicious spicy sausage, fluffy eggs and freshly sliced avocado on a fresh bread wrap. When I ordered it last week, the avocado was a paste like those guac tubes from the supermarket. Not as good.

Previously, the chicken tacos were great value and one of my favourite things to order. They previously had fresh coleslaw with lime, purple cabbage, carrot and green cabbage. Now, this has been replaced by iceberg lettuce and mayonnaise. And it went from $15 to $21 in price. The guac is also not freshly sliced and is just goo from a container. It's also gotten smaller in size and the wrap bread is less nice tasting.

They purchased newer, nice looking cups for their hot and blended coffee drinks. The chai latte now comes with a small cookie. They also changed the type of coffee they use which I like.

My partner and I go here all the time and have really noticed the changes. It's a shame that our old favourites aren't like...

We visited at around brunch time and enjoyed a Smashed Avo as a main, and a generously sized fresh apple muffin. I also got an Iced Chai Latte, which came in a 420mL plastic cup with a paper straw, and was very sweet and almost ice creamy. If you enjoy a sweet chai, you will like the ones served here at Backshed! The playlist for late Saturday morning was a rotation of early 2000s rock and punk alternative, and made my millennial heart happy. The cafe was buzzing with folks of all ages, and many opted to sit outside to enjoy the spring sun. Prices are a little more than the average you'll find in Western Sydney but the quality of the food feels like you're at least getting something nice for...
