The Marayong Hotel — Restaurant in Sydney

I was truly disgusted by the horrible treatment my wife and daughter received today. after going down there for dinner and some realxing time , my wife and 4 year old daughter went and bought a juice and coke , no issue the next time my wife was told very rudely by the service staff for our daughter to step back and not be near the bar , she was told to step back against the wall meters away from my wife while she was asking to buy....a coke...yes not even an alcoholic drink. my daughter in tears as how could the madness of rules get to this level demanding a mother to telll her daughter to go against the wall and step away from her. After this my wife had to sit with our daughter as she cried sitting on my wifes knee did the service staff come over? or check to make sure things were ok....no. when i heard about this as i got home from work i went down there and was treated horribly by the staff and abused by all staff here. Not a single moment did they admit things could have been handled alittle better but these are the rule, no then i got absued, demanding rules rules rules! what about common sense! you rather a mother demand their 4 year old daughter to go stand against a wall rather then just letting my wife buy a coke when only an hour before that it was ok to buy a fruit juice in the same spot with my daughter right there next to my wife. , Horrible service and not child friendly at all, wouldn't let my dog eat here after the horrible and disgusting treatment we...

Since their refurbishment, The Maryaong has become a fantastic family pub.

Now much more modern and bright, the space is well thought out, airy and open, and the kids area is fantastic (if a little rough and tumble with the big kids playing in there).

The drinks selection is extensive for a pub, tasty cocktails available and craft beers on tap, they provide an array of spirits (Canadian Club on tap), as well as some non alcoholic beers and drinks.

The food is unbelievably good. The serving sizes are generous, and the quality of ingredients make for great value. In particular, their pizzas are flavoursome (not over-salted like some places), their steaks are perfectly cooked and as good as any steakhouse (the char is perfect), and the schnitzels provide amazing flavour combinations at great value (avo and bacon, boscaiola, the good ol parmy, to name a few).

They have a small gelato bar, but only off er two desserts. I feel that this is the only area that is lacking.

All together it is a fantastic pub, easily accessible, family friendly, and I look forward to...

I recently visited Marayong Hotel with a group of around 20 people, as I thought it would be a great place for families and kids—and in that regard, the environment is indeed welcoming. However, I had a few concerns about the service and food quality.

First, I was overcharged for my order. After following up 48 hours later, they admitted the mistake and refunded the difference, which I appreciate. However, that wasn’t the only issue. Given the size of our group, I expected the food to be more presentable and well-prepared. Surprisingly, when comparing our pizzas to the regular single pizzas served to other guests, ours looked like a budget version—smaller and less appetizing. When someone brings a large group, they expect better service and attention to detail, not a downgrade in quality.

If they can improve in this area, Marayong Hotel could be a fantastic venue for families and group gatherings. I hope they take this feedback into account, as the place has...
