Maydena Eats — Restaurant in Tasmania

This is a true gem in what seems to be the middle of nowhere! We stopped in on our way to Lake Pedder and were very pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere is casual and relaxing, with an interesting menu and decent wine list. The chef, Preb, is also the business manager and she pays very close attention to detail. We missed the curry (we were too late arriving) and had the salmon. It was a very generous portion cooked to perfection. The veggies on the side were also really good. This is a seriously good hidden gem... after exploring Russell Falls on Saturday, we took our 10yo and 3yo down the road to Maydena and uncovered this outstanding venue that is going to be something special for a very long time. They're renovating right now but the place has enormous charm, and the potential is even bigger. Try the house curry alongside traditional pub favourites and the picture is clear - the team here understands how to bring awesome food and great service to life - even though it's the end of the road before you hit the wilderness of the south-west. For many of us there is the romantic notion of finding that ‘secret’ place, the understated little place that just happens to have unbelievably good food.
