We stopped in for a late lunch on a very hot day in January several years ago. My wife had “burnt” her feet several hours earlier while we were walking on the nearby Henty dunes. We ordered our food and drinks. The folks working there noticed her discomfort and like magic appeared with moist cool towels for her feet. Then they ushered her over to the couch and brought out a pan with cool but not cold water for her feet. They checked to see how she was or if she needed anything else multiple times. She ate her lunch, immensely relieved, while watching TV with her feet feeling much better. All of this without us once asking for help. I get tears in my eyes now years later thinking about the absolute kindness and thoughtfulness of the people at the Pitstop. We live nearly 10,000 miles away, but I will always remember the Pitstop Cafe and the kindness and generosity we received there (not to mention very good...

Generally poor.

Shop does not take eftpos.

Manager / staff did not appear to want to be there and whined a fair bit while preparing our meals.

The prepared food was ok and nonexceptional. I was surprised when informed that they do not have eggs because they are too much work (I wanted egg for a salad roll) and they want to be different, or fish and chips as it is too smelly.

Many advertised meal options were not available at the time as she intended to close at 3pm (apparently this is what they do).

Did not feel welcome and would not return (even if I...

If you don't want to try the Pitstop cafe in Zeehan, you could go elsewhere. Except there isn't an elsewhere! It seems to be the only joint in town, and the good news is the prices. Everything is cheap, and I mean particularly cheap. But you get what you pay for in a way: the toasted sandwiches I had were thin and not very hearty. There is a pseudo fifties vibe with a couch, motorbikes and a juke box. It's an uninspiring place but it's warm, service is gruff but efficient, and when you need a warm brew and it's the only place in town, you could...

A quirky cafe with car memorabilia. Not a huge menu selection but it was nice and fair prices. The downside was the eftpos machine not working because of the internet, was told I could go to the supermarket at the other end of town, which I thought was a bit much. This was an obvious on going problem and if so maybe make it a cash only business!!!

Travelling south to Strahan, we drove through the mountains, stopping at Zeehan Cafe for lunch - with just the 4 of us; the grandma (owner); granddaughter (waitress) and us. Nan was very chatty about her knee operation and the drama of ongoing physio in Burnie. Was really good. And terrific food and coffees.

A clean, quirky small dinner with friendly staff. A great stop for lunch with basic lunch menu and good coffee. Not only have they created a colourful diner but carried the theme through to the bathroom. Well worth the stop anytime of the day.
