A Hidden Gem for Breakfast Lovers! We stumbled upon this spot during our trip, and it turned out to be an absolute delight! Their English breakfast eggs and toast were perfectly cooked—the eggs had a rich, creamy texture, and the toast was just the right mix of crispy and chewy. Every bite felt like a comforting hug in the morning. But the real showstopper was their avocado toast with zucchini. It was a flavor explosion! The avocado was fresh and buttery, the zucchini was thinly sliced and lightly seasoned, and the whole dish was topped with just the right amount of seasoning to elevate it without overpowering the natural flavors. Every bite was bright, fresh, and utterly satisfying. The ambiance was cozy, the staff were friendly, and the food was easily the best breakfast we’ve had in a very long time. We’re thrilled to have found this place and would highly recommend it to anyone in search of a memorable breakfast experience.

After a less than friendly customer experience from another nearby establishment, we decided to check out The River Cafe. Hands down, it was the best decision made. From the moment we walked through the door, the staff were warm, friendly, and attentive. We were quickly seated, menus were provided, along with colouring in menus and coloured pencils for our two young children. Our meals were brought out in a timely manner, all of which were fresh, hot, and delicious. And the milkshakes we each had were delivered in "old school" large metal milkshake cups (as a milkshake lover, I felt like I was like milkshake heaven!). The warmth and hospitality we experienced at The River Cafe was exceptional. I honestly can not sing the staff's praises highly enough - it really was one of the most welcoming establishments we experienced whilst on our holiday in Tasmania. Thank you for making out time in Beauty Bay a memorable one.

Do yourself a favour and skip this place. We had literally the worst lunch here. Dukkah with sourdough was crappy, supermarket bought bread, sliced paper thin, served with some overly nutty dukkah and a little bowl of mystery green liquid that WAS NOT olive oil. The fish and chips comes with frozen, store bought chips (Tasmania has the best potatoes but these people still go for frozen crap!?) while the fish was soggy and overly battered. The grilled fish was just leftovers of small pieces, served with the same frozen, tasteless potatoes. To top that, they charge premium restaurant prices (we paid $90 for 2 people). Great disappointment and added to the list to avoid. No wonder the crowd on Sunday afternoon was retirees that are probably forced to go to the same crappy place due to proximity. Do us all a favour and sell the businesses to someone who can run a place like this with passion. This is a shame.

I brought my family from Melbourne to have brunch before they left Tasmania. My sister and I ordered the pea falafel salad. It was just Awful - the falafels were like bullets, dry and tasteless, the ingredients listed on the menus were missing - no cashew cheese, no sautéed vegetables, no baby beets, a salad that was not fresh made and was only greens. We sat outside on a table shared from the strong sun by umbrellas but as a breeze arrived they took away all the umbrellas and we were left without any shade. Our falafel said cost $18 each and when we went to pay and mentioned the dish was not as the menu stated, the staff person didn’t even offer a discount or apology, just simply agreed the dish didn’t have the menu stated ingredients. The River Cafe used to be amazing just a couple of years ago and since it was sold it has gone downhill fast. What happened to the beautiful menu that the river cafe...
