We were very disappointed with our experience at this country pub. My close friend, his 2 kids and myself with my daughter left Melbourne around 16H30 on Friday and headed inland towards Hamilton. When we got there our table was ready and waiting along with a very lovely young lass who greeted us with a warm country welcome. My friend went to get us all some drinks with the rest of us perused the menu. What a fantastic choice. The food was amazing and the service was above what we expected. We highly recommend this pub (9/10). The next pub meal was at Koriot pub, which had the more country feel to it. They also took good care of us. However, in Timboon we were made to feel like real outsiders or intruders from the moment we were "sent" to our table to the time we left. There were errors on the menu that weren't corrected, things that weren't available, but not indicated and important information like the sauces that go with the stakes were on the wrong side of the menu. One example is that I tried to order the scotch fillet steak, but they don't sell it. They only do porterhouse steak. Apparently it was a "typo", which could easily be corrected by a thin white sticker and porterhouse steak written instead. The meals came out in dribs and drabs. My meal came last more than 15 mins after the first meal was dumped on the table. There were only 4 other tables occupied in the dinning room with a total of 11 other people being served, all locals as it was obvious because the staff knew most of them by name. When my meal was dumped in front of me a few of my fries ended up on the table. The "green salad" was in a small sauce bowl with 4 small cubes of potato salad (potatos and mayonnaise), 1 segment of tomato and a few little pieces of lettuce that had been broken up to make the bowl look "full". There were no condiments on the table, no tomato sauce given or offered for the kids or our chips and no sauce or mustard for my steak. The stingy amout of fries was surprising and quite frankly rude. My friends burger was dry and very bland. Same problem with the fries. He still felt hungry when he had eaten what he thinks was more a kids meal than an adults. Not much and no taste. I went to the kitchen to get some sort of sauce or mustard for my steak and I was barked at by the kitchen staff to go back to my table. The young grubby looking cook yelled out "someone will get something in a minute." A few minutes later when my steak had gone cold and the kids were wanting their icecream I was brought American mustard in a dirty(the nozzle had crusty mustard plastic...
Read moreThe worst meal I have had at a pub in a long time. Waited an hour for garlic prawns which were dry and 3 slices of scalloped potato hidden under dry chips. Then we had to wait to be served for drinks as the young guy was too busy chatting up the girls at the other end of the bar. The young girl behind the bar was in that much of a hurry to go out for a smoke that she was walking around with the smoke hanging out of her mouth, very classy and to top the whole night off was seated next to a group of people that didn't know how to control their very unruly children. The night was memorable at least, not something we will forget in a hurry that's for sure!! Only gave it one star as I couldnt post the...

Nice place and friendly service. Due to 2 big groups before us the waiting time was longish but the staff was very nice in keeping us informed and offered additional drinks for the wait. Most importantly the food was really tasty and well prepared. Will be happy to visit again and can recommend...
