I’ve always loved stopping at this little cafe, as the food is great and it’s a beautiful setting. Sadly however, I’ll be giving it a hard pass from now on. It appears that the new owners - who are clearly very devout - are blatantly using the establishment to endorse and advertise their religious beliefs, from the religious sayings and signs strategically placed around the store (a psalm directly in front of the sugar jars?!) to the religious music being played. I found it incredibly uncomfortable and off putting to have to listen to songs of praise with lyrics ‘hallelujah’ this and ‘Jesus’ that while trying to enjoy my coffee. We may as well have gone to a church service. Hubby and I would have stayed for a second coffee and lunch but we chose to leave instead as we did not go there to have someone else’s religion shoved in our faces. To be clear, I am completely respectful of everyone’s right to believe in what they choose, but the new owners have taken it a step too far in a public establishment that’s meant to welcome everyone. This is probably one of the best stop you can ever make! The place and the location are beautiful. The owners are extremely lovely and kind, they adapted to my dietary requirements and made me the best vegan toasty I ever had! They also have fresh local products that are very good quality, they obviously cook with them. The sourdough bread is to die for. I could not have any pastry/cakes because they were not vegan.
