Our experience with Ondeen was deeply upsetting and has delayed our wedding planning. What should have been an exciting venue visit turned into confusion, disappointment, and silence from the very people we trusted to guide us.
We enquired specifically about the Garden Vista Pavilion, as advertised in Ondeen’s own brochure. We made the trip — I was six months pregnant — expecting to view that space. Instead, we were shown the restaurant, deck, and another pavilion entirely. None of these matched what we had enquired about.
Because the Garden Vista Pavilion was never pointed out during the tour, we had to specifically ask Holly the events manager for a photo afterwards. The image she eventually sent was cropped, cluttered, and unclear. It felt as though she was refusing to acknowledge the brochure offering at all, while steering us toward the higher‑priced option instead.
Communication throughout was slow and unreliable. We had to chase for replies, even asking if we had the right email address at one point. When we pressed for written confirmation of what was actually included, Holly stopped responding altogether. We sent a message to Deb, one of the owners, and still received no reply.
Most concerning was the sudden introduction of new conditions for Saturday evenings, justified by the claim that the venue is “normally closed.” This requirement appears nowhere in the brochure or terms and conditions, which clearly state evening access as part of standard hire. The written materials promised one thing; Holly told us another. That is false advertising.
This wasn’t just poor service — it ruined our first venue experience, left us without answers, and forced us to start over at a time when we should have been celebrating and planning with excitement. Instead of clarity and professionalism, we were met with contradictions, evasions, and silence.
For a venue that markets itself as premium and professional, the lack of service, transparency, and accountability...

From the moment we arrived, we were treated to warm hospitality, an elegant yet relaxed atmosphere, and a dining experience that exceeded all expectations.
A special mention must go to Marlon, whose impeccable and stellar service elevated the entire experience. Attentive, professional, and personable, Marlon struck the perfect balance between making us feel at home and delivering fine-dining precision.
The chef’s brilliance was on full display, every dish a beautifully plated work of art, bursting with flavour, showcasing skill, creativity, and a deep respect for fresh, quality ingredients.
We were on a tight schedule and had just two hours for what is normally a luxurious three hour long lunch (which is needed).
The team could not have been more accommodating, ensuring that we never felt rushed yet still experienced the full depth of this incredible menu. This flexibility was extremely appreciated and speaks volumes about the professionalism and care at Ondeén.
From the perfect wine pairings to the harmonious flavours in every course, this was more than just a meal — it was a culinary journey.
It’s no surprise that Ondeén has earned such a stellar reputation in the Adelaide Hills.
If you’re looking for flawless service, exquisite food, and an experience you’ll remember long after your last bite, Ondeén is simply unmatched. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ x 20 — and...
Read moreWe had a small family function in the Pavilion last week with a booking for midday. Had high hopes but we all left sorely disappointed. At 12.30 another larger function took over the pavilion area and the solitary waiter was left floundering in trying to get service out. Our drinks were hit or miss (we MAY get them or not, and they MAY be the correct ones ordered). The food was wonderful, but EXTREMELY spaced out in order to serve the larger table first (despite us arriving earlier and having a similar feed-me set menu). We watched hungrily as the larger table were served their mains at 3pm, and when we tried to enquire as to why we weren't having our mains in front of them, we were told by management that "they (the other table) have an event on" (I'm sorry, but does that mean their time and money is worth more than ours?). At around 3.45-ish we got our mains, and promptly left without dessert as we had been so poorly treated. Perhaps the worst dining experience I've had in years (and that's from one who's fine-dined all over the world). Whilst the food was really at the standard we'd expected (the artistry of the flavour creations were definitely something to experience), and was perhaps adequate for the price of a degustation, it was overshadowed by the substandard service. We all still seemed to leave hungry after having it spaced out over 4 hours, and the lack of respect...
