Incredibly beautiful course!! Excellent staff in both restaurant and pro shopโฆ. Visiting and staying in community so had enjoyed the restaurant many times. In my 50โs but very new to golfโฆ. Due to the beauty of the course and the friendliness of the staff I decided to book an early round of 18 holes as a twosome with a friend of mine who is also in his 50โs. We were enjoying ourselves but struggling with game as we are very inexperienced. We stayed well ahead of the foursome behind us as there was only 2 of us with a cart and they were walkingโฆ. I have to confess we lost a number of balls and would use cart to locate them. We stayed on fairway with the cart and never went into any areas that were marked off. We were well aware that we could not spend a great deal of time to look for balls as we did not want to hold anyone upโฆ. UNFORTUNATELY as we finished 18 and went to return our rental cart and clubs we were informed that the PRESIDENT of the club was following us and called FROM THE COURSE TO THE PRO SHOP to submit a COMPLAINT that we were taking too long and driving erratically all over the course. My friend and I were SHOCKED and extremely embarrassed that a complaint had been about us when we had made a conscious effort to not hold up play and behave appropriately. We left the clubhouse immediately even though we had arranged to meet friends at the clubhouse for lunch. We were so deflated that we left immediately. As new golfers were were shocked that a club PRESIDENT and the rest of a foursome of scratch golfers would not have the patience and understanding for a pair of new golfers. Without new golfers learning the game how will your business continue to thrive? We will never return to your course and have even reconsidered pursuing the game of golf. After being in Australia for 2 months this is my first...
ย ย ย Read moreBallarat Golf Club, This is the 5th time I have visited, and I can not recommend this place highly enough if you are on holiday and looking for a game of golf.
It was an easy phone call to make a booking, then the resting history.
This Golf Course is a tight treelined course, with couch fairways and bent and poa greens. It is a challenging course, yet at the same time, if you are on fairways off the tee, rewards of a birdie opportunity are on the cards.
The par 3 holes are of good length, which requires a good strike on the ball. The bunkers are strategically placed on the course, then you have the thick fescue rough and also protect the greens too.
The warmer and practice facilities has undercover hitting bays, and the Chipping greens are also in very good condition. Also, nice sized putting green.
The proshop is well stocked from Golf attire to drinks and pies.
The facilities are fantastic, from the change rooms to restaurants are very clean.
I met David, Travis, and Steve, who were working in the proshop on the weekend that I played. The guys were awesome and very welcoming. It was great to chat with them, but they were really good in trying to fit me into the competition field and with some great people. This made it a very nice experience as I met great members and made new friends.
Come try and see how much of a challenge this beautiful course is. You will love this...
ย ย ย Read moreMy son treated me for my birthday. Ok course, tees could be better, very challenging layout.
But the new motorised golf carts left us less than satisfied by experience, we finished our round early as we were getting very frustrated. Geofence enabled, on our 1st cart so sensitive, No.20, kept stopping us on designated cart paths between holes and on fairways. we had to stop when on path after teeing off on 10th Hole just stop wouldn't allow to go forward.
Guys tried to adjust sensitivity remotely, as reportedly have a few carts with known geofence problems. Given a new cart number 17, got us as far as 15th hole, similar issues faced, throttle surging and holding us back. Greeted by same the professional in shop, but inability to understand issue, our frustrations, was very annoying. We left straight away. Whilst driving home, I called the Pro Shop, spoke to another guy, Trevor I think, he was saying we might not know how to use carts, no problems with the carts whatsoever, which of the Pro Shop guys is telling the truth? Ballarat Golf Club is overpriced and hyped up, with poor customer service - little or no empathy to our experience on the day. We were returning home to Geelong, after 8 nights on the Murray playing golf, no issues with their carts with same...
