Gotta support country pubs like this so they don't disappear. Decent range of bevies at the bar and menu offerings that punch above their weight for a country pub. Restaurant opens at 6pm for meals, recommend booking on a weekend if more than 2 people as it can get full quickly. Prices are a bit high but as lovely Linda explained, being Regional they get hit with massive delivery fees for supplies, so that's the reality and at the end of the day when you want a hot meal on a cold night, the prices are still OK all things considered. Partner had the smoked trout linguine and said it was excellent. Only small disappointment was the menu had changed and the famed cauliflower lentil dahl was no longer available, with the vegan options being schnitzel, though it was actually two burger patties (the pea/veg type). That being said, I normally don't like those types of patties but these ones had good flavour and were enjoyable. Though I hope they bring...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe rented a holiday house in Buxton for the weekend and went here for dinner after visiting the snow. The chicken parma was one of the best I'd ever had, delicious and juicy, the chips were done well, the staff were friendly enough, serving sizes were average. There was a $2 surcharge for veggies on the kids meal because veggies are expensive at the moment. My friends ordered a lemon, lime & bitters which was made from scratch, not just poured from a bottle, and they said it was done very well. There was an open fireplace which was nice, but our eyes were stinging from the smoky odour throughout the dining room. FYI there was a cat curled up in front of the fire, which delighted the kids, however I'm not sure if this is within regulations for a restaurant? Also my daughter is allergic to cats, which is a shame, as we didn't expect her to come across a cat so hadn't given her antihistamine prior. Would we go back should we stay in Buxton again?...

Drove through the Yarra ranges and that was sad to see the damage tat had been done by the bush fires that went through there. On the way home we decided to stop at the Buxton pub , what a lovely little country pub very friendly and the atmosphere great. Whilst there we were watching these ducks trying to cross the road , how smart they were each time they heard a car they would quickly scoot back and try again , l felt like going and holding up a stop sign for them. It was a...
