Where to start... Went for dinner on the 9/3/25. Walking in there was drunken people at the front of restaurant and even overflowing onto the footpath, we quickly realised we had o return to car to pu the pra away for our children as you could not fit it through the closely packed tables and over populated crowds.
Had to wait atleast 10 minutes to be seated as the staff were unresponsive.
Finally getting to our table and the chairs of surrounding customers were literally touching our table, it was that oer populated.
Reading the menu and quickly discovered ut consists of 95% pizza and schnitzel with zero children's meals. Going up to order, had to navigate through the drunken locals sitting on chairs at the counter taking to staff members, had to wait for staff to wind up conversations before being served. Finally ordered entries and mains and waited over an hour for our entrèe to come out and about the same for our main meals. (A lot of other customers had the same problems as witnessed them complaining g to staff).
Oysters kilpatrick were nothing more than Oysters topped with grilled bacon and oyster shell, served cold of course.
Don't worry about what sides you'll choose with your meal as vegetables do not exist there. You have the options of salad and that's it from an under-stocked selection serve salad bar.
One positive was that the steak was cooked to how I ordered it, although it wasn't the cut of steak that was listed on the menu and was cheap supermarket steak, it was cooked correctly.
The staff members are extremely hard to identify at they all wear very casual clothing (even T-shirts with holes in them) and no...
Read moreTo be forewarned is to be forearmed. To start this place has great food ...they are extremely busy ..dine in and take away. So food is not an issue.. but if you are new to the restaurant it is extremely difficult to know where to start and what you need to do - as there are no hints or signs. So you dont know if you just grab a table and order or if you need to ask or line up. The answer is that you need to line up - if you have booked or you are a walkin ...the door on the right...not the big open door. But the line is next to the line for the bar ..so stay to the right - so you are not in the drinks queue. It is also near where your order food...and where food comes out the pass.So it is mayhem. Once you have a table ...you need to order food - from the food line ...near the "wait for a table queue" and the drinks queue...and all the food coming out of the kitchen...crazy..? But you cant order drinks ...once you order the meal you have to order your drinks in the drinks queue. The order takers and the bar staff share eftpos machines...so while efficient taking orders you have to wait for the "pass the parcel" eftpos machine. If gordan ramsay did a show on this place - he wouldnt complain about there food....but would definitely talk about there system and locations of different queues...i think in an hour show he woukd say "for f$%k sake" 150 times. I would go back ...but would pre book ...or get take away. For the business....move your "wait to be seated queue" near the front. Get some more eftpos machines or a decent POS system, and maybe let customers order drinks on there...
Read moreA very apt name. I would describe it as a hole, but Cavity sounds more fancy. Went there on Saturday 29th Feb 2020. We had only recently arrived in Venus Bay and arranged to meet some friends at The Cavity. It is such a rare place these days where hospitality staff go out of their way to be INhospitable. We walked into the venue for the first time and went up to the counter. The older lady behind the jump asked if we were there to eat or to get a drink. When we said we were there to have a drink, rather than saying "If you come down to the other end I can serve you there", she snapped "you're standing in the wrong place". My friend then asked if there was a house white and a house red. When I asked for a glass of Riesling she said that they didn't have any. I pointed out the Riesling by the glass on the menu and she replied "That's not house". We took our drinks, caught up with our friends and had a pleasant hour of conversation. I didn't interact with the other staff so I can't say what they are like. However, based on our experience with the rude person we dealt with, the name...
