We rode our bikes from bright to harrietville and return and stopped here for a bite to eat and we felt lucky to have done so! My five star rating reflects this great little cafe outfit in tiny harrietville - it’s a cute spot that serves excellent coffee and homemade Anzac’s (who doesn’t love Anzac biscuits) and the best mushroom and scrambled egg breakfast wrap I have ever tasted! A lovely spot of spice in the wrap too to warm our cockles before the ride home - there’s some talent in that kitchen while keeping it simple. Worthy of a stop and a meal and a moment for sure! A photo of the ride to get there for good measure

Edit: to the reply, yes we did visit the Harrietville Bakery, the girl there did have a strong accent but was very clear on what she stated to us. And that simply was the Vanilla Slices were made elsewhere and had not arrived yet. If this isn’t fact, then better train your staff What an odd place, turned up 10am on a Sunday and they really had nothing. Reason being, they were waiting for the delivery. I asked from where, she replied made by another bakery. So their award winning Vanilla Slice is made by another bakery and delivered. Seriously waste of a 40km detour. I will avoid this place in future

My original review I left below but that was before I got the squits! (All food consumed except the bakery is same as 3 other travellers) Thur 2nd Jan toast & Coffee for breakfast same as other 3 travellers, lunchtime bacon & cheese quiche & sausage roll at the bakery later that evening suits! Nothing else to eat... You need to stop here! Pies, quiche, sausage tools are amazing BUT vanilla slice is fantastic. Funny attitude from the French lady serving but good ambiencence

A beautiful town with friendly locals and Swany and his wife are delightful. There is nothing in this bakery you won’t love. My husband raved about the Mexican and was super impressed. The star for sure is the Vanilla Slices, rated the best outside of Melbourne and would be worth the drive just for them! Apparently one of the master chefs holidays out here and he is always wanting to promote them….. Swany just wants to be low key and enjoy retirement!!! Hahaha I think he’s in trouble, with such amazing friends food. Just remember to bring cash, no cards here and you’ll find that this wonderful place has you striking up conversations with other travellers…. Old fashioned hospitality at its best. We...
