Really dissatisfied and disappointed in how Mathilda handled my reservation.
Booked the venue for 30pax for my 40th birthday 10 weeks in advance.
My birthday falls on the 24 September.
After confirming with guests, who will be travelling from interstate and surrounds and who have booked non refundable accommodation at the Mercure Hotel ( also annoying).
I was called and advised a month later they will no longer be able to accommodate my party, as the staff want to take the day off to watch the AFL grand final
I offered to raise my minimum spend and to book the whole venue (previously advised this would be minimum spend of $5000) and was told they would speak to the owner and let me know.
1 hour later was called and told they will not be moving forward with my reservation.
Mathilda did try to call some other venues and find me alternatives, she then advised I would have a space elsewhere but after calling said venues, unfortunately with such short notice none were able to accommodate, or would require a room hirer fee.
After working for over 20years at some of Melbourne’s premier venues, my guests and I are very disappointed, and would never have treated guests like this, due to their own poor handling and mismanagement, all for a football game that will end well before my dinner reservations was booked to...
Read moreMy partner surprised me with coming to Hogget Kitchen and Wow! A short drive from our B and B to find a divine winery and restaurant set amongst the hills and valleys of Warragul. We were fortunate enough to have a window seat overlooking the vineyard and were immediately given the menus and wine list. It didn’t take long for us to decide on a share entree, rib eye steak for main and shared dessert. The entree was a generous size and the variety of tasty treats appreciated. The steak - cooked to perfection for medium rare and medium. Dessert ice cream is to die for. A must and ask for an extra serve of ice cream and this comes from someone that doesn’t really like ice cream that much. Everything was perfect. Portion size food. Jess who waited on us was friendly and knowledgeable. Wine list was extensive and very supportive of local wineries. Wheelchair friendly. Kid friendly. Good parking. Didn’t check for wifi - cos why would you. Cost - what I would expect to pay. $120 for two people including wine. A night to be remembered. We...
Read moreAfter reading about Hogget Kitchen several years ago we (eventually) had dinner on Saturday evening (08/06/24 ) The 6 course menu with matching wines at $160 each represents exceptional value, $40 each for the wine pairings, really? Anyone who says overpriced just needs to look at what you can pay in any capital city in Australia or overseas particularly Europe/UK/USA You would expect some sort of cask wine at this price not the excellent wines we enjoyed with our meals. The matching wines were brilliantly chosen and the focus on local produce and wines really show that an international label is not any better(usually just more expensive) Your floor staff were brilliant, great knowledge of both the food and the wines and made sure that we didn't feel rushed at any stage .Thanks for an excellent meal and evening. We will definitely return. Thanks for an excellent evening making our return to Gippsland for the...
