Awful experience. Wife and I booked in advance for their Thursday advertised Ribs n Wings special. Called the afternoon of our reservation to confirm. I specifically asked if we need to order in advance. She told us no. We drove 1/2 hour to get to the pub on time for our 630 reservation. We were seated and given menus. We told her we were here for the Ribs n Wings special. She instructed us âto hurry up and order as they tend to sell outâ. Surprised by this comment (considering we called earlier) we asked her to check with the kitchen before we order as we were only here for the Ribs n Wings special. As we went to order drinks, the waitress gave us the thumbs up indicating the kitchen was prepared for our order. So we proceeded to order and pay for two specials. A couple of minutes later, the waitress came to our table telling us the kitchen was out of ribs! When asked how this is possible as just 2 minutes before she said the kitchen was ready for our order, she apologised and said âwe always run out - so you need to get here early!â I asked her: âThe special starts at 530 - we got there at 630 - that is one hour into the special, how early are we expected to arrive?â She just shrugged her shoulders and offered me the menu. I told her I want a refund which she was happy to provide. When I got to the cashier, no one (not even the owner) knew the refund code on the eftpos. How convenient. The owner apologised and gave us 50 dollars in cash (the cost of 2 specials) and offered us six wings as an apology of sorts. Took one bite of the cold wings and that was it. Just awful tasting. Ironically, my company was going to book our Christmas party there (50 people) - I will definitely encourage my boss to take us elsewhere! To that end, I donât recommend coming here for Ribs n Wings on Thursday unless you arrive and order at 3 (and wait around for hours). We will...
Read moreWORST ever experience I have had in my entire life dining in a restaurant. We live nearby and was there once again to support local business struggling to survive amidst COVID and was treated so badly by the staff, respect is a word not known to them. They kept us waiting for 45mins, and when we went and asked at the counter about our food, they didnât even apologise once or tell us when we can expect our food, all she said was âoh, we forgot to send the order to the kitchenâ. We had to go back again and ask how long will it take for her to say 10 mins. They gave a garlic bread on our table and said complimentary and the food arrived after all this hussle after another 15-20 mins stone cold. Beef lasagne was frozen and when we returned the plate, again noone apologised, and was asked if you would like it to be reheated? We had to ask for a refund for that plate of food, we were 4 and one ended up with no food after a 1.5 hour wait altogether. Noone came to our table to remove the frozen food even or once apologise! When we complained while leaving i cant imagine the way we were treated, one lady shouted saying this is a family restaurant, you need to stop! I am sure you get what respect you give and donât employ staff who knows nothing about respect and basic manners!! NEVER EVER GOING BACK! We had one gentlemen (staff) who came to remove the plates from our table when leaving say âif i were you I wouldnt come...
Read moreUpdate; Had the Bangers and mash since the review below and it was very delicious!
The star attraction here would have to be the venue. After driving past the Huntly Hotel hundreds of times, to and from Bendigo, today was the first time we stopped. Tuesdayâs steak night! I ordered the steak, and it was cooked just the way I ordered. It also came with a selection of vegetables or alternatively, salad. Chips too. Worth mentioning, there is also a seniors, discounted, selection on the menu. Weâre gonna try the good old-fashioned bangers and mash next time. The pub seemed very popular with families the night we were there. The staff were efficient and took our orders quickly. For newbies like us, we were unaware of a couple of things like you canât order and pay for your meals and drinks at the same register. We did get the vibe âwe should of already known thisâ. The meals arrived reasonably promptly, however before they did, we had enough time to go and explore this amazing venue. There is something interesting, and or quirky around every corner. Even a play space for the kids that was proving very popular on the night we were there. The meal itself hit the spot. It was a good honest pub steak at a fair price. You can eat inside or out. On a table for 2 or in one of the large spaces for 102. The Huntly Hotel has cleverly crafted their many spaces into various welcoming zones. Well...
