Izzy’s Restaurant — Restaurant in Victoria

Very disappointing.

My partner and I, along with two friends, dined at your restaurant a couple of weeks ago after hearing great things for a long time. We were grateful you could fit us in last-minute and appreciated the warm professional service and lovely presentation of the food. Unfortunately, the meals didn’t meet our expectations, especially given the higher pricing. We found the meals to be flavourless, some ingredient combinations unusual in a way that didn’t quite work and tough dry meat. The overall experience left us VERY disappointed — especially as we had brought new friends and felt quite embarrassed that none of us enjoyed the food. We’re not people who complain often and we still paid and left politely, as we didn’t want to ruin our whole experience with friends. However the experience has left a lasting impression, and not in the way we’d hoped.

After sending an email to Izzy’s team about this experience, we received no response which made the whole thing worse.

Top service, great ambiance, lovely food presentation, bad tasting food.

Sorry for this review but it is still bothering me...

Having been to Izzy’s many times, I can say that every time has been a most wonderful experience.

The food here is a regional highlight and Izzy’s has become my favorite and “go to” restaurant in this region.

The greeting and service is always outstanding and the atmosphere is lovely, but it is the food that elevates Izzy’s beyond anywhere else around here.

The majority of their produce is locally sourced (much of it from their own garden near Dunkeld) and incredibly fresh.

The chefs masterfully craft it all to make amazing meals well above the standard of anything I have encountered locally and right up with the standard of some of the fine dining experiences available (at a significantly higher price) in some of Australia’s capital cities.

My wife and I plus our two friends, made reservations for supper at Izzy's tonight. We arrived on time, and there were about 15 people in the restaurant when we arrived. We ordered "starters" which were very good, and they were delivered promptly. When we ordered the starters, we also ordered our meal from the "daily specials" menu. We waited 1 hour and 40 minutes before the main courses were served. All the time we waited, there was a constant stream of pizzas being delivered out the front door. Obviously Izzy's caters to a takeout pizza clientele, and preparing and serving suppers for folks who dine in, takes a definite back seat to the phoned-in pizza orders. If you want to eat at Izzy's be prepared to wait. Or else...
