We ordered a latte and cappuccino which were made fairly quickly and were actually quite good. We wanted to order meat pies which were sold out, but we were told that more were coming in about 20mins time. We waited in the beautiful courtyard until the next batch of pies came out. The pies were a very decent size. Being a bigger guy that trains, I like a lot of pie, so this place didn't disappoint. The pastry and crust were thick, buttery, and perfectly balanced between crispy and soft. They didn't fall apart at all. The filling was flavourful and thick with plenty of chunky beef. The only thing that let these pies down was temperature. They were all just luke warm, which was a disappointment because I like my food hotter. Food does taste better when it's hotter. But overall, a very solid pie which we all thoroughly enjoyed, but all agreed that it was not hot enough. If it was hot enough then I'd say that these pies could easily be the top 2 or 3 pies...

A Sunday drive in the country on a beautiful spring day. We chose Malmsbury as our destination. Just over an hour from Melbourne in the northwest. It's so important to support our small country towns. We'd looked up the best country bakeries and decided on The MalmsburyBakery Cafe. We've never been there before, and we weren't disappointed. Yummy pies and great coffee! Seating inside or in a beautiful garden setting. We usually buy a loaf of bread on visiting country bakeries to enjoy at home. This time, we bought their fruit loaf. Highly recommend it! We'd got there just as their market stalls across from the bakery were packing up. So we recommend getting there before 1pm if you love wandering through the markets. I'm just not sure if the markets are there every Sunday. You'd need to research that. We suggest getting out to begin exploring our beautiful small Victorian country towns and especially...

I have always enjoyed the vegetarian pasties at this bakery…when I can get them. I have been at all different times of day, but mostly at lunchtime and they rarely have any, although there are always meat pasties there. Today I was told they wouldn’t have any until tomorrow, it was 1pm. Once I have been able to get them after asking for cold ones when they were all gone. They were actually warm when I was given them so not sure why they had not been placed in the oven. I have also been there half an hour before closing time and was refused a coffee. Being told the coffee machine had been cleaned already. Coffee machines take a very short time to clean so I do not understand why they are not serving them until closing time. Coffee and cake are what most people would be after at that time of day. Please start making some more vegetable pasties as they delicious and...

A BIT DISAPPOINTING we'd heard that Malmsbury is a bit of a foodie spot but that wasn't quite the case at Malmsbury Bakery Cafe. Dropped in at about 1 pm to grab lunch. Only a couple of sandwiches available when we arrived .. but a big range of pies still. Opted for the pies - one mushroom beef plus a plain beef. Both were pretty ordinary (but only $6.50 so needs to be considered in this context). We didn't finish the pies :( Staff were pleasant and helpful. Nice outdoor area at rear with lots of tables and a rustic tranquil environment. People with mobility issues will be OK. Not too many obstacles to negotiate apart from the step up to enter. Cafe is quiet, so it shouldn't bother those who don't tolerate noise environments.

It was okay. Nice enough bakery and obviously popular since we came around 1:30 and pretty much all the savouries were gone. We didn't mind waiting for a fresh batch of pies that we decided to take away. We bought a plain and a mushroom and beef....was all right but I've definitely had better in other country town bakeries. Service was erratic. One server was very nice and another 2 were on the blunt side and one of them was difficult to communicate with...could just be tired from the lunch rush though. We might try again when we pass by Malmsbury..I think I'll try something sweet next time.

Place was packed with queue nearly out the door with all staff working efficiently. Food was delicious and served to the tables. Obviously a very popular place with the locals with wide variety of choices. Was raining and a bit of a miserable day but I was very much cheered by the provision of warm, hand crocheted, knee rugs on the chairs outside. Not having seen this before I thought it was totally charming. There is also a beautiful, shaded courtyard in which to partake of the pastry delights.
