O'Haras Clunes Café Bakery- A Mixed Experience Writing this review is a bit of a challenge. I've written many before, but this one has left me with mixed feelings. We were visiting Clunes for the day and decided to stop by O’Haras, drawn in by online reviews and onsite signage proudly promoting their Coffees, Pies, and Cakes. The staff were genuinely friendly and efficient, which made for a pleasant first impression. I ordered the obligatory, meat pie, coffee, and a sausage roll, and we chose to dine in, taking advantage of the available indoor and outdoor seating. Here's where things became a bit tricky. Despite dining in, our food was served in brown paper bags. The pie was extremely hot, almost dangerously so, with the filling resembling molten lava. It felt like it might have been microwaved before being placed in the warmer. When I mentioned this to the staff and asked for a plate and some cutlery, I was told they don't offer / have plates, which was surprising for a cafe. The only cutlery available was the disposable bamboo kind. I was given a type of takeaway box to use as a plate and wooden utensils to manage my meal. To be clear, everything we ate tasted great, the flavours were spot on. But if you're offering dine-in seating, and you are a café, as listed online, it's important to provide a proper dine-in experience, including suitable serving ware. (From my experience the bamboo cutlery has a 'taste' which is unpleasant)

Quick stop over on work assignment again.. very quite town, the chicken and leak pie was nice, pastry good, chicken pieces nice. Had to try the custard tart, it certainly didnt disappoint. Seems like a family business supporting their community, well done

Seriously good pies. I had one of the best pies I've had in years, pepper and beef with excellent pastry. O'Haras are definitely worth stopping at when in Clunes.

Hasn’t this place declined. I know there’s inflation going on but wow $18.50 for a Chunky Beef Burgundy pie and a sausage roll (for my partner). One single ‘chunk’ was their definition of ‘chunky’. I’ve had far better pies full of diced meat elsewhere at the same price point. And an average sausage roll according to my partner. And all that for $18:50. And it looks as if they need a GoFundMe campaign for seat and tables as they have ALL disappeared even inside (maybe they walked out at embarrassment at the prices). So it’s by and walk to eat it seems. They don’t want you hanging round the moment they have the coin? Oh and 10:30am Friday and it doesn’t appear they even have bread anymore. Not sure if new owners as I am a Shire resident but not in this town but by god this place has declined and has an air of struggle (in fact the entire town feels like it at the moment with other...

Had a late lunch here and we tried 3 different pies. All really delicious with a wonderful crusty pastry on top and delicious tender meats inside. We tried the pepper, curry and beef and bacon pies, all yum. Seating inside or outside the store. Lovely lady there running things who makes the pies herself. Nice selection of cakes, I enjoyed the perennial favourite, "Snot Block" or Vanilla Slice. Smooth custard and just enough icing. Coffees...
