Drove past the Rose cafe thinking it was someone's house converted to a cafe. Later found out it was the place we were dining at. It was surprisingly kitsch inside and super great service. Our waitresses were really friendly and helpful. First up we ordered some hot drinks and they were nice. Price is a little higher than metro Melb prices but I think that's standard. Once we ordered our food the meals came out in good time. We relocated to the Rose garden underneath the vined verandah. It's super cute under there so I recommend you in take a seat if the weather allows. I got the Islander chicken burger which was OK. I feel like it could've had a tastier sauce especially for the price of the meal. The serving size is good though. I yaysef the Rose Risotto which had a nice flavour. The treats are also really enticing and we tried the don't biscuits were are delicious! Worth dropping in to if you're into roses and a cute setting.

Stopped here for lunch on the way to Malden. The coffee was excellent, but that's not all. My wife had the special Rose Risotto and she said it was the best risotto she has ever had. I had a BLT, but it just tasted like a BLT from out of this world. What a great find. Apart from the food the staff were friendly and very helpful 😀. We couldn't ask for better. Attached to the cafe was a florist and craft shop. The two ladies there were so friendly and entertaining. Lots of nice things to look at and buy. Also the garden Court Yard was lovely with a nice feel about it with wonderful decorations. We will be back.

First time here after years of driving by and always saying we'd go. Definitely didn't disappoint. Cute little cafe with a beautiful outdoor area. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The prices are quite decent also for what you get. The coffee is nice but a bit strong for my liking however a tall is actually a tall as shown in the picture. The food was quite good except for my English muffin being quite hard. Overall though, the taste was nice. We'll definitely be back again as we want to try the pancakes.

The food is great, the staff are friendly and the atmosphereis nice, but it takes them 45 minutes to bring out your food. Sometimes I have to ask because I'm wondering if they have forgotten my order. If they see you sitting there a long time, watching everybody else being served, they should keep you updated. Other places you do not wait so long to be served. It's the one thing that puts me off about this place and it seems to happen on regular basis.

Following this a lady walked out and asked, "are you Grant?" I said, "yes." Then she asked, "you made a complaint?" I said, "not a complaint, feedback."Then she said, "your chips were served in 20 minutes." I said, "it was longer then that." Then she said, "I'll go and see." Then she came back and said, "I'm the owner. If you're not happy, go. I don't need three star reviews. My girls work their arses off. You're a nasty man. Don't come back." I said, "it wasn't meant to cause offence." Then I asked her, "can I get a container for my chips" and she said, "no."

So this is what the world has come too? You leave a review and then the owner walks out and verbally abuses you (in ear shot of another customer). She was pointing her finger at me and raising her voice. I have never experienced anything like it before. Clearly she can't take constructive feedback. I was just stunned. In disbelief. To disrespect a customer like that beggars belief. I was thinking about saying something, but didn't. I heard her go back to her staff and say, "good on you girls," like she was proud of herself.

Really, this owner owes me an apology for her disgusting attitude. I wonder if she's got anger issues. That was totally unwarranted and disproportionate to the circumstances.

Unfortunate, because up until that point I was considering making it my regular Cafe I called into.

Warning: be careful what feedback you leave in case you are verbally abused.

P.S.: not that I would want to pour another cent into this business, but you can't be threatened with police for leaving a post.

This is the reason and only reason I was banned from your Cafe (and you know it). I made the mistake of posting it while I was there and you thought, 'I'll confront him about this'. I wonder if you have done this before? If you wish to say anything else, I'll consider seeing a lawyer. Let's leave it there. Good luck to you.

One last thought to anyone reading this. Depending on the circumstances, if you have a grievance against a business, you can report it to Consumer Affairs, the Victorian Administrative Appeals Tribunal (VCAT) or your local Member of Parliament (MP).

Rule number one in business: NEVER EVER verbally abuse your customers. That's the beauty about security footage: it works both ways and will show her coming out and launching into a tirade towards a customer that was still eating (in the presence of other customers that were witnesses to it). Pretty egregious conduct (practically unheard of).

Word of mouth gets around in a small town. I've read all the reviews. Take notice of what she says: at times she tries putting it back on the customer. After her attitude, if I could, I would have given her a 0. Anyone that can treat a customer like that doesn't deserve to be in business. If she continues to treat others in a similar fashion, maybe people should decide to boycott her business (power to the people ✊️).

Someone put in a post, 'you should see how she speaks to her staff?' Some of the staff are lovely there. To any staff: if you have ever been mistreated by her (depending on the circumstances), you can take it up with Fair Work Australia (if you feel comfortable).

To the owner: you know the lesson in all of this? Never shoot off your mouth to a customer. You don't know who you could be shooting it off too.

That was the FIRST and LAST time I will EVER be spoken to like that by a business owner. You chose to take your frustration out on the wrong customer.

I hope any customer you mistreat names and shames you...

Have eaten here several times, & always enjoyed it. Today, coffee was cold, my husband ordered, & was told he couldn't get it, due to it being before 12noon. So he ordered again, 11.50am, & i watched the cook throw her hands in the air & loudly say "breakfast menu til 12 o'clock!!". Waitress came back to the table, husband said "ok I'll have the omelette" (mother had ordered ham, cheese, tomato omelette) I said no tomato on his, but mushrooms. 2 h/c/t omelettes came out, no mushrooms on his, & waitress argued with me that it was 2 h/c/t omelettes. My large bowl of chips came out as a small bowl...oops wrong table & someone else's. Not impressed at all today, & probably won't come back

EDIT: After a very poor, & arrogant response WOW....of course your waitress wouldn't have gotten it wrong. She did not advise us initially of the "breakfast only menu times" the first time I placed my husband's order, nor the 2nd time she took his foccacia order. 3rd time, when we ordered the omelette, I DID say "no tomato but add mushrooms"!! I understand how busy things can get, but had we been advised of the breakfast menu only times, we would have happily ordered as such. As for my chips, I DID ordered a large, but I guess the waitress wouldn't have gotten that wrong either. I find your response to my review extremely rude, & I'll enjoy plenty of lunches at other...
