As a visitor to Phillip Island I was new to Anerie, recently taken over by the owner of the restaurant of the same name in Cowes. For those in the area of Silverleaves, Anerie cafe has good coffee and gourmet French food. Do be aware though, the cafe is closed Tuesday and Wednesday. Also, if you want breakfast, the kitchen closes for the breakfast menu at 11.30 am (serving only croissants/ cakes etc in that time) and reopens for lunch at 12. No problem there however, on attempting to give feedback that this closing of the kitchen might be made more obvious to customers over and above the timings written in small print on the menu (perhaps a sign at the counter or letting customers know) I was argued with and talked back to by both one of the waiting staff and later the owner. Note to the owner: feedback is ALWAYS an opportunity to improve your business. The young man with the blonde hair had it right- listen respectfully, apologise if warranted, do what you can to get the customer's goodwill back (eg a refund/ credit for a coffee?) , thank the customer and say you will get on it ( minus the arguing back, interrupting and the snark). Needless to say you would have avoided a bad review and not forever...
Read moreI’ve been to this cafe a number of times with the new owners. The cafe food was excellent, much improved and also they seemed to have some interesting food items for sale. Coffee was initially a bit weak but seems to have improved and was good the last couple of times. They have nice specials including quiches that are great and baked very fresh. This morning They made a passion fruit ricotta muffin, delicious!
I was surprised that during the busy time of the year they are still closed two days a week. They were closed New Year’s Eve because they’re closed Mon/Tues which was interesting given its new and changed hands. So many people walked past and commented on their surprise in the few minutes I was there.
I’m looking forward to what they produce as I’m a regular in...
Read moreThis place has so much potential, and the service is nice enough, but the coffee making is often extremely slow, and it really shows during the busy summer period. They get easily overwhelmed. I recently ordered a savoury muffin to go, and all it needed was to be heated up. Only one person had come up to order while I was waiting, and yet it took over 5 minutes just for someone to put it in the microwave to heat it. There was 1 person making coffees, another who was making a milkshake, another waitressing, and a lady restocking the cabinet. I was so surprised that not one person could multitask. I enjoyed the okonomiaki pancake with mushroom, but honestly, it was a...
