Day old bread at fresh bread price!

Today I bought a loaf of white bread to feed some unexpected visitors. I took the bread straight home and we made sandwiches. After eating half of a sandwich I realised that the bread was NOT fresh. I asked the others at the table what they thought, and they also said that the bread WAS NOT fresh.

I think it is fair to expect a loaf of so called FRESH bread to baked the day it is sold. If the bread is not fresh, the baker should at least tell you it is not.

I expect the baker sold the loaf as fresh bread so they didn't have to throw it out, or sell it as day old bread?
