I wasted money on lunch there yesterday. I bought a sausage roll and a Salad roll with coffee. The sausage roll, $4, was the worst I've ever tried eating. It was so bad I ate 2 mouthfuls before throwing it out(and I've eaten all of some ordinary s/rolls in the past). It was bitter and salty. That was the only taste for the tasteless Saus roll. The salad roll was only 'just' as well. Very lack-lustre. Bread that was of no real flavour or freshness and some of the filling was prob prepped early in the week. Only the coffee was reasonable, another $4 for the tiny cup. All up for the 3 items it cost $15 something and then because you want to do a contactless cashless sale, you get added a 2% surcharge. Very popular spot for the Sunday drivers and riders who venture by. The pies were great, and the coffee hit the spot. So why only 3 stars? Sauceflation is just something we have learned to live with. A big box of sauce packets costs bugger all, yet some bakeries include them for free, while others charge a premium. Here at Strzelecki Bakery, the chunky steak and pepper pie and the veggie pastie cost a smidge under $7 each. They were top quality, but adding 40c for sauce feels a bit too...
