I commented on another site yesterday, but looking further after that it's seems very apparent that Management of this facility needs to address many issues if they want to deliver as they promote. Yesterday in a group of 4, each ordered a different meal from a very minimal choice menu and a menu that doesn't match that of the website to be served, I'm going say clearly, the worst food ever. From presentation, cooking and taste all were seriously disgusting. No seasonings were offered. Mistake made was not to return the meals immediately. Sadly the wait & bar staff (who were excellent) had to stand for the business whilst the Chef remained behind doors. When a Chef can't confront the issues of his doing then clearly he/she is incompetent. All meal complaints should be addressed by the Chef or above. The only response was "thanks for the feedback, it's much appreciated " In saying that if I was the Chef delivering those meals I'd remain in hiding also. Bloody shame as facility is really nice and I can't recommend the restaurant to anyone as a place to go unless I had a good experience and I don't think I'll be going back soon...
Read moreThoughtfully created flavours, beautiful setting amongst the vines, very welcoming service. We loved our experience. The lawn looks out over a huge eucalypt with the beautiful vines in the background. My son and I loved the scallops with lemon myrtle, the lamb shank with cardamom literally fell off the bone. The taleggio risotto was rich and creamy. The Shiraz soaked pear was heavenly and the cheese platter was generous. When we visited, the owners were dining amongst the guests and welcomed us as if they were welcoming us to their home. Guests were taking photos with the vines in the background as the sun went down, other guests enjoyed playing a giant game of Jenga alongside their local wines, chosen to match the food. The Pavilion at Buller Wines is more than "worth a visit if you're in the area" - it is worth planning a trip to...
Read moreLunch is one of those meals that is very hard for a chef to plan well. Too much and the guest is uncomfortable, too little and the guest wonders why they have spent the money.
The Chef/Owner at Ripe has got it right. We had the 3 course degustation for lunch and it was perfect, just the right amount of food to leave you feeling refreshed, your taste buds tittlated and even having learned a little along the way.
The entree was tasty yet just enough to remind you that you were hungry, the wagyu wasn't overwhelming and heavy, which it could have been as the centrepoint of the meal and the desert was light, sweet yet tart and reminded you that the whole thing was worth the trip.
Next time I think I will try and give it a...
