Exceptional kindness.

Last Christmas (2021) was a toughie for me, for so many reasons. I decided to take an extremely impromptu trip to Mt. Baw Baw to clear my head but in my poor preparation, I didn't adequately tighten the olive oil bottle I packed with all of my food – leading to massive food spoilage and a very oily car boot. It was only a 3 day trip but with very little open over 23-26th Dec, I was very hungry by like, noon on Day 1.

I walked into the Village Restaurant and the young man who helped me was so empathetic to my food ordeal and asked which accommodation I was staying at. I told him which Lodge, and when I got back later after a day on the trails, I was stunned to see lots of pantry staples and other yummy things just out on the bench in the Lodge kitchenette for me to eat over the next few days. The staff pantry was being cleaned out for the year and the young man was so thoughtful to pass that onto me.

I don't really want to get into it over a Google Maps review, but I burst into tears at the kindess. 2021 was just a very, very difficult year and without even knowing that, the staff at Baw Baw chose to display such loveliness to a complete stranger.

There was a lot in this trip that pulled me out of a very nasty place – the nature, the peace and quiet for once in my life – but I feel the most gratitude to the people who were working over the 2021 Christmas period for helping me out during a tough time. I so wish I'd taken down the staff member's name, but I didn't – I really hope he sees this. Thank you so much, mate. I promise I'll pass...

Don't bother. My husband and I were so disappointed with our experience here. My husband ordered a burger with a side of sauce and I ordered the souvlaki but substituted the yoghurt dip with different sauce. The order was repeated back to me correctly. When our food arrived (which took a while but we understood as they were fairly busy) there was no sauce with my husbands burger and no sauce on my souvlaki. I informed a staff member who said he would go and check the order. I waited 10 minutes and he did not return. I went back up and asked again to which he basically said I'd just have to wait until he could get another staff member to bring the sauce out. I was shocked as I did not think it would be this hard to get sauce that I ordered! I sat back down, 10 minutes later my food was completely cold and I asked another staff member for a refund. She was lovely and apologised, checked our order and then refunded my meal. She was very apologetic unlike the other staff member who did not seem to care. Wow, what a lovely spot, food was nice and the sevice was great, friendy young staff happy to please. We had spent 150 dollars on food and drinks for 7 and took over an hour to eat and relax. My wife had laid her head down on my lap cause of a headache and sister had shut her eyes sitting upright in the chair enjoying the sunshine through the window, while 2 others were still eating. Then suddenty the female shift supervisor from Colombia had to told us in a blunt and rude manner, that "you can't sleep here and if you want to, then find accomadation*.When l approached her, she was quite rude, and addament that these are the rules and l had explained the realons and if all 7 of us were sleeping, then l would understand, so rude and should not be in hospitally. I have visied and skied at many ski resorts in Australia, and sorry to say won't be returning to this restuarant and will be informing all of other travel agents...
