I arrived at midday, and the only ‘ready to eat’ lunch option was a chicken and mushroom pie for $8.00. I assumed it would be a lovely pie at that price, but unfortunately it was not. The underside was soggy and oily and the pastry case was only half filled with tasteless chicken mush. The very small $5 coffee was burnt and the milk was frothy and overheated. I’m all for small businesses having a crack, but this was a disappointment.

When you arrive in the Walcha town centre in the early morning and you see the local tradies lining up at a coffee store, you know they serve good coffee there, and yes that observation was correct, great coffee and quick service. A tip for families, grab your coffee and walk up to the local McHatten park which is about 50m away, past the Foodworks on the left.

Cute little place with nice coffee. Does a roaring trade and everyone said they do an awesome coffee, they were not wrong. Staff are great down to earth and know everyone. Perfect country town cafe, and exactly the kind of place, when you're visiting a country town, that you look for to have coffee and brekkie. Also the menu looks damn delicious.

Hole in the wall coffee shop in Walcha. The coffee matches the shops name serving a fruity natural process flavoured roast with noticeable berry notes. The cafe is quite easy to spot on the round about and we were glad we stopped for a coffee. Walcha is also a lovely town for a stroll with a fruit shop coffee in hand. Definately stop here it you're craving for an inner city...
