We don't eat out often so it's really disappointing when the meal falls short of expectations. We were a sitting of three. Roti & peanut sauce is a favourite with my wife. Very small entree portion & she was disappointed with the peanut sauce. Duck bao buns also entree were ok but the sauce on it seemed like a commercial preparation I can buy at Woolies. Salt & pepper calamari & prawns. If you take away the salad (rocket, cabbage & carrot - undressed) that nobody eats, the portion was modest. The calamari & prawns were nice. The dipping sauce again seemed like a commercial preparation that I could buy at Woolies. Chilli bazil stir fry with chicken. Not much chicken but what there was, was dry and chewy. Nasi Goring was too moist and not much in there but rice & Nasi goring spice. Normally another favourite of my wife's but she was underwhelmed. My adult son scored a 6 out of 10 for the experience. My wife doesn't like to give definitive scores but was disappointed overall. I couldn't go past a 5 out of 10 unfortunately.

The menu looked fantastic with a huge amount of choice. Unfortunately what turned up on our table was substantially less than fantastic.

For me personally I might try somewhere else next time rather than give it another go.

Sorry if this seems blunt. I didn't do this review straight away, I thought about it and the three of us talked it through in...

The Mortlake Thai Restaurant in Warrnambool is a hidden gem we stumbled upon on our way back from Adelaide to Melbourne. The staff here are incredibly friendly and welcoming, which adds to the charm of the place. The food is absolutely delicious, offering an authentic taste of Thai cuisine. Having visited Thailand last September, we’ve developed a deep love for Thai food and culture, and this restaurant brought back wonderful memories of that trip.

The restaurant’s décor is a warm mix of Thai and Western styles, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere. While the food takes a bit of time to arrive, it’s worth the wait as the dishes are generously portioned and packed with flavor. We ordered four dishes, which turned out to be more than enough for four people, and we had to take some leftovers home.

What truly stood out was the kindness of the staff—they even interacted with our child and spoke a few words in Thai, making the experience even more memorable. If you’re ever exploring the Warrnambool area, I highly recommend stopping by The Mortlake. It’s an excellent spot to enjoy fantastic food and the warm hospitality...

We ordered an entree and two mains to take away at 1830, they said it would take 45-50 minutes which we found already excessive, however, because of what was perhaps a busier weekend we decided to just go ahead. We got there at 1915 to find an unpromising queue of other people waiting for their food. When I asked for an ETA, they said another 10 minutes. Food was ready well later than that, at 1955... Took this restaurant almost 90 minutes basically to prepare a pad Thai and a stir fry which I find unacceptable. I'm sad to also say that it wasn't as great as I'd hoped based on the other reviews. Portions were big, however I found the dishes very much lacking in flavour and 'creativity' for a restaurant rated 4.5. Won't go...

If you’re in search of the best Thai cuisine in Warrnambool, I highly recommend this restaurant. I had struggled to find a good Pad Thai in Warrnambool every time I came here for work until I found this place. (because I thought it was in Mortlake but nah its in Warrnambool I wish I had come here sooner 🤣) Their Pad Thai is genuinely authentic and exactly what I was looking for. The staff is friendly, everyone speaks Thai which made me realize ahh that’s why lol!The Khao Soi is also fantastic! Generous portion tho
