It’s our usual hangout on a Tuesday, but given today’s experience we will not return due to off cream and being served a waffle that almost fell off the counter that was touched when caught.
Bought waffles and a couple of drinks. Out of the 5 waffles we ordered, 2 Large waffles had vanilla bean ice cream, cream and syrup. As I began to eat my waffle the cream tasted sour, indicating that it has expired. I checked with the other person who also stated that the cream tasted off. I returned mine and the young girl said it’s all the same cream. So I came back and checked the 3 waffles that had cream. Only 2 had the off cream taste. Long story short, the girls behind the counter continued to stick to their story about the cream being fresh when it clearly wasn’t. We wouldn’t return two large waffles barely touched if the cream wasn’t off. They replaced the large waffles and came out and said we won’t put the cream on, because it’s the same cream used on the other 3 waffles. And when pulling up the fact that they are making us out to be liars, the young girl denied the fact that she was making us out to be liars, whilst proceeding to say the cream was from the same bottle continuously.
I was annoyed to say the least, and said not good enough given it’s 15% surcharge and ordering something with the works and asked for our money back too. To top it off we were still served a plain waffle that was almost dropped off the counter that the young girl put her hand on to catch before it dropped, which we decided not to mention when it was brought to our table earlier. She knows I saw her too, placed it behind the counter but you could clearly see it was the same waffle as the corner of one piece was squished and broken off.
The manager was on site and didn’t have the audacity to come out to deal with the matter, and the shop wasn’t clearly that busy. Sorry but this is not a way to start off your business in the new year. Won’t be returning… The image shows the replacement waffle...
Read moreI recently visited gelare, and I have to say, the service was outstanding! The staff were friendly, attentive, and really went above and beyond to ensure everything was just right. From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed and cared for. However, there was one major downside to my experience - the heat. While the service and food were top-notch, the temperature inside was uncomfortably warm. I found myself and my kids sweating throughout our sweet treat, which definitely took away from the otherwise excellent experience. I highly recommend that gelare consider installing air conditioning or improving ventilation, as it would make a huge difference in making the space more comfortable for customers. After that, I went to Woolworths and tasted a similar one, and I almost vomited. So, I went back to the café and told them, "This tastes too weird, like just powder!" But they didn't say anything, which shocked me. I didn't know how to explain it properly, so I just said, "Can you make me a new one?" Then the boss asked me, "Are you okay now?" which basically meant, "You got a new one, get out now." No, what I wanted was an apology!
