Went there for breakfast this morning (Easter Monday) with friends from the UK. Never been before but have seen some good reviews.
First thought was lovely cafe in the middle of the bush. Was told our table was just near the door and was handed a bunch of menu's and sat ourselves. As we were seating we were told to go up and order at the counter once we had decided. Luckily we were at the closest table to reception because if you were around the corner or at another table you were handed menus at the front and told your table number that you then had to go and find yourself.
I wont say anything about the 20% surcharge apart from that 15% is now acceptable at these times of public holiday surcharges...
We decided on our food and went up to order, waited in line for 10 minutes as only 1 girl taking orders at the two POS systems. Once ordered at 918am we then waited a good 20 minutes or so for our drinks (1 x OJ and 2 x coffees) with even one girl coming down to our table and asking if we had received our orange juice. Clearly with an empty table we had not. We then waited another 5 - 10 minutes for the OJ and then waited for the Long Black and Cappuccino to come down. We then waited and waited and saw that 2 tables that came after us and ordered after us receiving there hot food. I decided to go up and ask where our food was and was told to speak with the cashier who was standing right next to each other.
Clearly the person I was speaking with first was either the manager/supervisor or owner as during the morning she was the one directing food and staff but was not up to speaking with customers.
After speaking with the cashier was told that our food was being plated. Not sure why it would take over 45 minutes to plate up 2 x muesli, 1 x scramble eggs and an extra toast... No explanation, no I'm really sorry for the wait just plonk the food down and run. Clearly no organisation in the kitchen as to when orders are cooked and when they are served.
Once the food did come give credit where credit is due the food was good. Service well there was none and for the timing.....
Diner beware... Don't be in any rush or on a time frame as you may/will miss your next...
Read moreI recalled the pure excitement of making my way to Goanna simply drawn by its 'Gallery & Bush' concept for a meal five years ago, and was impressed by the welcoming bush setting as soon as I turned into the property's car park.
The property is well set up with 3 generous dining areas - front verandah, indoor and outdoor. All areas are great and with no doubt the backyard outdoor setting accompanied by beautiful tall trees and bush setting on a sunny day is my go to :) There is also a showcase of locally made products for gifting or just to splurge on.
The delivery of attentive service and scrumptious meals sourced from local produce show tremendous passion and love from the Goanna team. My guests and I are blown away in many occasions by the delectable seasonal dishes put up and we left the premise with highly satisfied soul and belly.
My favourite breakfast is the poached pear granola (being a granola girl) and lunch the ragu beef with gnocci plus the malabar chai + soy + honey. Whatever dish it is, the freshness, quality, texture and balanced of flavour never fail to disappoint.
Thank you Goanna team for your passion to deliver food and service with love at Yallingup! It has now become a spot I look forward to check-in everytime when...
Read moreHad amazing food, but the service was very poor, they over booked the tables, we were asked to leave in 5-10min ....but we hadn't even finished our food at this point, being a bank holiday there was 15% surcharge added to the bill, this is terrible service considering the extra charge!!! On the website the time slots for tables say 90min at this point we were only at the table for 55min total at this point.... We would of liked to enjoy our food at a nice pace and not feel rushed to finish eating. I can appreciate that it is busy on a public holiday but this was not a nice experience at all!! Not sure we would return again or recommend based on bad booking system and service . Although the food was good. The feeling of being told to leave and be made to feel uncomfortable when food is still on the plate is not what you want on your day off!!!! Don't over book if you can't manage the time slots correctly, and don't make your paying patrons feel uncomfortable!! Especially when food is still on there plate! I hope management take note of this for...
