What a shame!
I was really craving some comfort food today and thought I'd support Mauritian cuisine, but this experience left me disappointed ,not because of the cost (I spent over $60 on Uber Eats), but because of how poorly it was delivered.
Here’s what I ordered:
Lamb Haleem – This was advertised with half a baguette and condiments. Sadly, the baguette was missing entirely, and the condiment (chili) came in a tiny container, barely filled. As for the lamb… it was basically bones. No meat in sight.
Briyani : Also advertised with a drink that never made it into the order. The “side salad” came in a zip-lock bag, and the entire order arrived in a freezer bag. It honestly felt like an afterthought.
The most frustrating part? The flavours were actually there which shows the potential. But the lack of care, missing items, and general stinginess really ruin the experience.
It's disheartening, because I want to see Mauritian food thrive. But if businesses keep cutting corners like this, it's hard to see that happening.

We ordered some fried buns with potato filling. It's a simple snack with a slight flavour from the small bits of potatoes in it. We enjoyed it with the chili that they came with.
The mine boulle (boiled noodles) with lamb has a softer texture compared to what I'm used to, reminds me of something like a yeemee texture Malaysia. The main flavour profile is like soy sauce with a slight sweeter taste.
We also ordered a halim which is a lentil stew with bits of lamb and it's served with half a baguette. It's a softer baguette and good at soaking up the lentil stew which was hearty and enjoyed the small...

Service is quick
Food mostly good! Love the chicken kebab, I should ask for less mayo and more chilli next time; the dholl puri tastes just like the ones one would get throughout the island; manioc pudding good size and taste great; I found, the custard in the feuilleté too dense (thick) and sweet and the poutou too dry and crumbly.
Overall I’ll visit Island Vibes Cafe again and recommend it to anyone missing/craving or wanting to taste...
