Hungry Bear Cafe is a real gem and a breath of fresh air amongst all the big franchise coffee chains. Heather and her son Sam have created something special — a true, family-owned local cafe that’s full of heart.

Heather’s passion really shines through, especially with her experimental pastries that keep things exciting. (The salmon quiche was a standout, and now the new corned beef and mash pies are absolutely spot on.) Friendly staff, great coffee, a relaxed atmosphere — it’s easily the best start to my mornings on the way to work.

I honestly can’t understand some of the negative reviews below — clearly a case of someone having a bad day, because that’s certainly not been my experience after visiting daily for months. Highly recommend if you’re after great food, genuine service, and a local business that’s...

Atmosphere: Perfect small coffee shop. Great cosy atmosphere would make a great neighbourhood gathering spot for Saturday family/friend breakfast meet ups.

Coffee is really good a bit on the strong side which suits my Taste's quite well.

Food is what you would expect from a small coffee shop, think of the dome and the coffee club but the menu is not as large still just as good. Highly recommend the quiches they are so good. They do have dietary options for vegetarians not to sure for vegans and cieliacs.

Staff are extremely friendly and helpful. All the staff are wearing smiles and look genuinely happy to work there which just adds to the atmosphere.

Service is quick and professional.

Summary: ideal neighbourhood coffee shop cosy, foods good, coffee is great and the quiches are amazing...

Moved into the area 24 months ago and have been a regular at this cafe ever since on a near daily basis. I have been blessed to have traveled extensively and I must say that the coffee, service and staff here are literally as good as anywhere I have been in this world. I feel (like many other customers I have met here during this 12 months) as being part of 'the family'. Starting my day here with the beaut coffee, smiles and conversations with staff and other customers is something I look forward to. The almond coffee is my 'celiac' daughters favourite and she is now a convert to My Hungry Bear along with my grandkids who love the staff and vica versa. This cafe is definitely way...

Very friendly, cheerful service but slow to prepare food even with an empty café. The caramelised onion quiche/tart was all right, nothing spectacular but I'd eat it again. Our $19.90 salmon Benedict was served on bread that looked and tasted like what you get in a plastic bag for $4 from the supermarket. When I order this dish at similar or lower prices elsewhere in Perth, it's served on sourdough or rye with a salad on the side. Not here. Just two poached eggs topped with very average Hollandaise sauce and a few sad scraggly sprouts. There was no flavour other than salty. I was so hopeful about having a local with good food for the occasional treat but looks like this won't be it.

A lovely little Cafe with incredible service. The food & drinks had that great, fresh, home-cooked feel. Such a good choice on their menu too, considering it's not a big cafe. Most of all the staff are fantastic. We will definitely be returning here. BTW Their blueberry muffins are the best I've ever had! Easy wheelchair access & free parking just outside. A huge thanks to Sam, the boss, and Sam, a lovely member of his staff, for making our Dad's 94th Birthday such a special occasion! 🙏😊
