We booked a table outside. Got there and lined up to see where it was and was told it was outside but no “menus are here, you order at the counter”. So we went and sat (table needed a good wipe by the way) and noticed there wasn’t any menus so we asked the waitress “will someone bring menus out or do we need to get them from somewhere?” She said “whatever you want” shrugged, followed with “you order at the counter. Sorry what did you say?” So we went and found menus and ordered. There was no “cutlery is here help yourselves, water is here” etc. Kids milkshakes were $5 and came in tiny little bottles. 3 mouthfuls and they were gone. Salmon on the eggs Benedict was chewy. Scrambled eggs were bland and bacon was room temperature. Kids pancakes were $11 for 1 side plate sized pancake decorated with some little pieces of fruit. Kids both said it was “ok I guess but the cream tasted weird”. Buddha bowl was nice but dry, it definitely needs a lot more dressing. The coffee was nice. The toilets that used to be accessible when it was the old owners are now closed so people have to use the toilets across the road in the hall, there was no toilet paper or soap so that was gross. We had one lovely server a younger gentleman who got cutlery for us. Overall really overpriced and disappointing. I’m guessing this place is busy out of lack of other options in the hills and a nice location. We would go back for take away coffee but...

I recently visited The Hive in Darlington at the request of my 7 year old daughter who really wanted to try their pizza night. Well. What can I say other than WOW!!! Talk about delicious. I cannot recommend enough just how good The Hive is.

I have eaten here previously. Grabbing a snack to go, and have been so very impressed. The service. The food. The location. The venue. All just outstanding.

But the pizzas were next level. The toppings were plentiful. The flavours, the taste, all delicious. I would have had another, had I have had room for one. But I was suitably full afterwards, as was my daughter.

I had the Forget About It (Pepperoni Salami, Oregano and Chilli Flakes) pizza, whilst my daughter had the Tropicana (Ham and Pineapple) pizza. They were both just delicious.

As for drinks, we both opted for Cold Pressed Cloudy Apple Juice, which are made in Western Australia from locally sourced produce by Michael Brothers.

In short, The Hive in Darlington is a hidden gem that should be on anyone and everyone’s shortlist of places to eat at when visiting the Perth Hills region.

Friendly, courteous staff. Great ambiance. But above all, amazing food.

Go on, go and visit The Hive, you won’t be...

Went for brunch at this cafe whilst on a club associated outing but unfortunately disappointed. The setting is greeting and the staff are friendly. The dietary request was simple which was accommodated but fell well short of expectations. I requested the burger but substituting the beef for extra bacon which I asked to be well done/crispy. The food came out in a very short time which was automatically a concern considering the number of clientele in the restaurant. The bacon was extremely undercooked and in fact still in its raw fatty state. Also, if your menu does not state a particular ingredient “don’t” add it to the food/dish. The dish did not state it contained aioli/mayonnaise but came to me with with this on it. Rather than reordering we left for another venue nearby. Advice to the owner: I know first hand that you heed all reviews to better your business/products. Train your staff to deliver exactly what your customers ask for especially if it is related to dietary. Food clientele will happily wait for food when it is prepared...

After passing this cafe on many occasions, my mother and I decided that we must give this cafe a try as the appearance of this cafe appeared to be very homely. However the day and time we chose to attend this cafe turned out to be close to closing time. After inquiring whether or not it was too late for a drink and being told it was ok to order what we wanted, we ordered a hot chocolate and cappuccino and a slice each of cheesecake. The staff were more interested in talking amongst themselves than dealing with customers, and the counter where you gave your orders was sticky and filthy to the touch. Although the hot chocolate and cappuccino were nice, we were served a cheesecake without any forks or serviettes so we had to use the spoons that came with our drinks. The staff were somewhat dismissive and not at all attentive. This place is not recommended do yourself a favour go somewhere else.

Lovely little place in the hills, but possibly victims of their own popularity. A long wait for food and at 1pm, when they close at 2pm, they were essentially trying to chase people out of there with warnings of long did waits - although no question it is much better to be warned of the wait than not. My Eggs Benedict was very yummy but I do not get why they have to pile everything on too of one another. I had to dissect out my two pieces of toast from where they had "artistically" been piled on top of each other.

Lovely food with a few gluten free options. I thoroughly enjoyed my corn and fritters and salad. Enough on my plate so I was not hungry. Downside bathroom is in a hall across the road. Lovely setting opposite a park, oval and tennis courts. Great spot to bring kids as there is a playground. They shut at 2pm on Saturday, so you need to get there early. However they open again at 5pm selling pizzas. Filed away in my favourites.
