It seems like an Oldies tavern but rowdy outside, so as you'd expect, the food is excellent. Booking is appreciated, but you have to call their Bistro number, and the website is a bit hard to read.
Surf & Turf I ordered medium and got a well-done but amazingly tender steak, So -1 to your preferred level., though it seems the kitchen knows what they're doing, so you won't be disappointed anyway. Prawns were great and thankfully light on the garlic. Chips were super crunchy yet not oily and good portion size. The salad was standard but fresh and the perfect amount on the plate.
Entrees The fried chicken was good, the garlic bread was forgettable, and the poppers were well spicy.
Drinks I had Peach Lemonade, and it was very nice and also dangerous as it doesn't taste like a drink with 4%. Pricing was average, and they have a vast selection available and on-tap.
Service It's only now as I'm thinking back, that I recognise how great the staff were. I remember the night for great food, and the conversation with friends. Quick, busy and polite staff. Helpful, thankful and not intrusive. All were exceptional, and I don't remember any one of the 4 or 5 staff I interacted with except for a sense of friendly smiles and effortlessness.
Atmosphere The table was relatively small but a blessing as being closer meant we didn't strain our voices through the evening, and it was an easy volume to chat away. The floor channel for the partition caused a few surprises when the chair leg dropped in it; what's a night without some surprises?
Family Whilst I wouldn't go out of my way to take my family here for a meal, if I was a local I't'd be on our list. If it is rowdy like that outside all the time though, it'd be the long instead of the short list.
Overall The price was surprisingly good and even more so considering the quality. Great food...
Read moreHaven't been here for years, and took some guests. I will not be returning, and I really encourage you to take your business elsewhere. Given it was lunch time the food took forever to come out - I complained and was told they have only one burner going in the kitchen - I realise things can go wrong, but if we were told when ordering we would've picked something different. Chicken parmigiana was small and not worth the $28. It was like they made two parmigianas out of one chicken breast. I felt at times I was eating more ham and cheese than chicken. Salad was small as well and everything looked like it was slapped on the plate - presentation was poor. One of the plates had a big chip in it. There was no apology for the wait. The decor is old and dirty - the carpet is threadbare, the Equine Excellence frame is lopsided, and my chair felt sticky, and the ceiling looks like it either has mould or they've repainted parts to cover up things. I would love to encourage those in the area to support their local, but I was shocked at how bad this place is - honestly it looks like nothing has been done inside for years. I will not be...
Read moreHave been there several times for meals and drinks. Was there today and ordered the Crispy Skin Salmon at a cost of $34.00. Was served a dish with a 100 to 120g salmon portion, a very small handful of salad containing 1 slice of tomato, a few pieces of feta and greens, and a portion of soggy chips. Very disappointed at this. I have had much better meals at other venues for that price and even cheaper. Lift your game 😩 Have also read another customer’s review who had a disappointing experience here. When this person complained he/she was told to leave and was told the tavern manager would call the police!!!! The customer called back to complain about his/her experience and the tavern manger sent the police to the customer’s house. What the f..k!!!! These publicans/managers have no idea how to run a business. Don’t these idiots realise that IF YOU DON’T OFFER FRIENDLY, GOOD VALUE PRODUCTS AND SERVICE, YOUR CUSTOMERS WILL NOT COME BACK, AND EVENTUALLY YOU WON’T HAVE A BUSINESS. There is plenty of competition out there. I will not be returning...
