If you like rude and offensive waitress, bed service and overprized food this is your place!!! My family of 6 mature people went to the BWG Steakhouse and decided to book there for lunch on Sunday, after our walk on the Art market. On Sunday BWG Steakhouse serves for lunch only set menu for $55. Generally we try to not eat big meals and didn’t want to spend all this money, but we decided to stay for drinks and coffees outside because of the beautiful view. The waitress wasn’t happy at all. She told us that the only 6 sits table is booked, nevertheless that the table didn’t have Reserved sign, and we could stay only for 1:30 h. She said she can’t serve us anything else except coffee and drinks, nevertheless that the people on the next table were eating something, and she brought the drinks menu only. The waitress wasn’t polite and made us think that she wanted to chase us out. We had to go trough all the long list of drinks to realize that the coffee is not there. We asked for the coffees’ menu and ordered beers for the gentlemen, and ice coffees for the ladies. We waited 40 min to be served in the almost empty cafe. I could see from the place I was sittings our beers waiting on the bar for 10 min before they were served. For my surprise the barman stirred them with a spoon before the waitress brought them to the table!?! Any explanation?!? The grumpy waitress almost true my ice coffee on the edge of the table mat, leaning on angle. What a service!!! If I serve my clients as you do I’ll loose my job, so I do everything for them to make them happy and I’m polite and helpful. When I am a client and I give you my money I require the same attitude and service. I’ll make sure that everybody I know will learn how do you serve and treat your clients. I have read the revues for BWG Steakhouse, and I see that only the happy clients receive answer of their revue. Will you answer to me?? By the way I see that your unhappy clients are getting...
Read moreFood was meh. Wouldn't go back. Expensive for what it was too. An institution like this in its location you do expect to pay a premium but in this day and age where there are many fine steakhouses and establishments you need to up your game to stay relevant. I used to attend this establishment +10 years ago quite regularly before moving to Perth and it's slowly gone downhill. Pork belly was gelatinous yellow fat (not rendered at all). Thought it was a potato at first with the color. Waiter said "well it's pork belly it's supposed to be fat" which yes is true but you could not even differentiate between the fat and the meat outside. Was like they dropped in just the fat and took off the meat part. The whole table of 6 did not touch it. Chili mussels had 0 chilli flavour (all three of us agreed - and I stirred around in the bowl to find any traces of it and found none) and between the 3 dishes of them we ordered none of them were presented the same -one had parsley on top but neither of the other two did - Inconsistent. Also out of 30 mussels I'd say about 12 weren't open so inedible. This was on my dish alone, the other two had significantly more not open. You expect one or two but not a third of the bowl! Side of veg had 0 seasoning and super bland. No butter no oil no nothing. If you're going to charge 12$ for steamed vegetables at least toss some spices through them. It felt like veg you'd get in the hospital. We were offered complimentary desserts which was a nice gesture but definitely not enough to warrant a return trip. The rest of the dishes we ordered (Salt and pepper squid/calamari, bread and dips) were all fine but again...
Read moreHad lunch here today.
Pros: The location / view is beautiful. The smoked eggplant dip and Turkish break was actually delicious. Oysters kilpatrick were also very nice.
Cons: Service was abysmal. It took 3 awkward conversations with staff before the guy in the yellow shirt finally found us a table, who didn’t even say hello. The tension between staff when we were waiting at the bar was very uncomfortable. It again took 3 staff members asking us what type of water we want before one actually bothered to come back with the water. Basic items missing from the menu. Upon ordering entrees the waitress came back to inform us they actually have no prawns… not the end of world. However, when we ordered our main she came back to inform us they have no side salad either?!? I actually thought she must be joking, what restaurant runs out of salad?! $48 for a standard scotch fillet steak with nothing on the side, becomes a $60ish plate by the time you order sides (1 carb, 1 vegetable). For this price I generally expect sides or at least the most incredibly cooked steak possible. We asked for medium rare so my wife and I could share and both enjoy it… it came out closer to blue, which although I love blue steak it is not what we ordered and my wife only ate the edges. Had we not been ready to get the hell out of the place I would’ve sent it back.
All in all, this place was a huge let down. We had a voucher to dine here and had been looking forward to it for some time. Luckily the guy who processed our payment which involved a voucher issue was...
