As a long-time vegetarian, I was genuinely shocked and upset by my experience at Vasse Bakery. I came in hoping to enjoy a simple vegetarian pie and chose the potato pie, as there was absolutely nothing on the label or signage indicating it contained meat. There were a few options like mushroom, jalapeño & cheese — none of which mentioned meat — so I made what I thought was a safe choice. Unfortunately, as soon as I took a bite outside, I realized the pie was filled with beef. It was incredibly upsetting to unknowingly eat meat after years of being vegetarian. I returned to the counter to politely let the staff know what happened. The servo (a young lady) told me that all the pies (except the pumpkin one) contain meat — something that, again, was not written or clearly marked anywhere. I calmly explained that clearer labeling is important, especially for dietary and ethical reasons. What really hurt, though, was what happened next. An older man and her (the servo) laughing at the situation — as if it were funny that a customer felt misled and disrespected over something very personal. It felt like my values and concerns were mocked simply because I wasn't a local or "in the know." This experience left me feeling disrespected and unwelcome. I sincerely hope Vasse Bakery takes this feedback seriously and updates their signage to properly indicate meat content in their products. It's not just about preference — it's about allowing customers to make informed choices and preventing avoidable harm.

Cute little cafe that we visited during our trip to Margaret river! We arrived late in the afternoon so there was barely any options to choose from. We ordered the mushroom pie and chicken curry pie ($6 each) which both tasted good but nothing too special, but from reading the other positive reviews, this may be because we came at a later time!

Great pies, rolls, toasties and please dont miss the vanilla slices. The cafe attached to the bakery is a welcome addition.. VERY busy at lunch times. As they say."Do yourself a favour"

Never had a problem with service or products prior to today, ordered a plain pie ,potato pie and a pasty got a dry and flavourless pasty and the pies were a satay chicken and steak and kidney pies my order was the only order on the counter but the other customer who ordering through the girl behind the counter ordered a steak and kidney . So my suggestion would be to actually watch what they are bagging up to make sure that the Asian woman serving today actually listens to you . Chooks will be happy . I don't eat either of those pies and the pasty was that bad went to the...

Edit: As of writing the review they have now taken the dine in menu away, which is a bit of a disappointment, but all the other food is just as good.

This is my local go to cafe, service is always amazing, the new addition of the dine in menu is a winner, the Eggs Benedict Croissant was an instant favourite. Never had a bad coffee from here and the selection of take away food is always fresh...
