Stopped by on a road trip to our holiday house. Been plenty of times to Winchelsea but seemed to have missed this place. Don’t you. In an old bank chambers. Lovely atmosphere. Good sized menu with all day breakfast. But what I want to rave about is possible one of the tastiest toasties I have had for a long time. And i do mean that. I had the chicken, cheese and avocado. Nice thick slices of bread. Buttered on the outside which when toasted makes them extra tasty (as only butter can do) and brown crunchy (hate anemia toasties). The chicken was some of the most favourable chicken I have had in a sandwich- even those I’ve made myself. Spoke with the owner who said they marinate their chicken before cooking. And you can tell. My partner has the pulled lamb focaccia and I tried a bit of that and o can say equally it’s beautiful. He also stated that they rubbed seasoning and basted the lamb as it’s cooked. Haven’t been so impressed by a simple sandwiches for a long time. Recommend if only for...
Read moreI was on the flatty express when I called in here. But once inside I was captivated by the sausage rolls which were placed conveniently next to the register. The morning was lovely with the fresh autumn air, I decided to take a minute and enjoy what Winchelsea had to off in terms of weather.
The coffee was bold with flavor, rich and creamy and the sausage roll was moist and flaky pastry.
The whole place just had a real layed back vibe, and a contemporary vision of modern art and culture.
I might make this place a weekly stop and my journey between the south west and...
Read moreVery disappointed. We arrived during a small rush and were advised when ordering it would be about a 20 minute wait for food, which was fine. However 40 minutes later we still didn't have our food despite people who ordered cooked meals after us having their food already. When I went up to the counter to ask, they announced our food had just been made, but the order was wrong. They said they would remake, but no apology was offered. We ended up having to wait about another 15 mins for food. In the end it took us just under an hour to get our food.
Food was fine, freshly made. But definitely not worth the wait. I imagine it might be better during the week when it's a bit quieter but definitely wouldn't recommend stopping here...
