Went to the Alex Lloyd show last night. Save your money. What I witnessed was a display of boomer entitlement. The place relies on community service but the people that are in this community are entitled and would appear to help themselves to the bar because they "serve there." The community members want attention and will do anything for it. Like stand and sway, front and center drunk, so you can no longer see the entertainment, the attention is on them. They believe this man came for them not the people coming to see him. I saw people fall over on other people to move through the place. Then fight with each other. The people behind us pushed a table into my partner because he stood to the side to see, there were no seats. They were obnoxiously drunk, started to fight with other patrons, were making comments about the lack of space calling it "real estate." The best part was when an entitled boomer, from the group of attention seekers, tried to help the poor guy who runs the place clean up. Her comment to this couple were "there were lot of drinks on this table." Might I add she had consumed her fair share. After she left the obnoxious wife of the couple then complained to the volunteer manager saying she did not appreciate the comment. Worst display of human behavior I've ever seen from a community of drunks. RSA seems to be lacking due to community management. Go to Headlands Hotel down the road where they are not trying to circumnavigate process by employing staff not a community of drunks. I feel sorry for the service our country men and women who paid with their lives and spirit to have this poor display of boomer community...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe absolutely adore this place. It's an old school RSL that recently had new life breathed into it - with an incredible new team - and for a weekend afternoon hang, it can't be beaten. Stunning views of the mountain and the sea, the amazing vibe, fun atmosphere, everything. They also now have a new restaurant - and the menu is DIVINE. Upscale pub food. The fish & chips are some of the best we have ever had (incredible batter, and the homemade tartare is next level), the burger is delicious, and my husband swears by the vegetarian pie. He is pesco - and he hasn't raved about a dish this much - well - ever! (Homemade, beautiful pastry, an absolute winner. There is also a lamb pie that people rave about which I am excited to try!) I would give this more stars if I could. Special mention to the manager Dave, who has done an amazing job, with the RSL team and the wonderful volunteers, to capitalise on this beautiful location, and make it one of the most loved spots...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOne star is generous. I was told to take my hat off by a bartender, while a woman who was standing next to me in a green felt hat was not. I turned around to count approximately 10 guys wearing caps inside. Seems like an inconsistent and arbitrary rule.
The food was disgusting. The fries had freezer burn, the chickpea "patty" was slop and the pickled onions in the cos salad smelt like old socks. After fossicking around our plates for what was edible, we left our meals mostly untouched.
Sadly, we have fond memories of this venue, including the food. I'm not sure how or when the menu and the calibre of the kitchen declined, but I know that I won't...
