Abysmal service and horrible food.
When my partner and I entered we were not greeted or even acknowledged. Because we had no acknowledgement from the staff, we found our own seats and my partner went up to the counter to order (table service is what we received previously). The staff completely ignored him while that were on the phone and making coffees. Eventually they served him but did not take our order correctly. We ordered 2 iced lattes but received normal hot ones and when we reluctantly (because always feel bad sending something back) reminded them of our order, they just put ice back in the incorrect ones they just served us. It appeared they had just scooped off the foam, and added ice because the ice melted within 2 mins and they were still lukewarm.
We then received our food and it was absolutely horrible. I got the Big Daddy Veg and I wish I took a picture to attached this review for you. 2 thin slices of fried pumpkin, 2 under cooked poached eggs, half a tomato, barely a 1/4 cup of fried old looking mushrooms, a side of beetroot paste that looked like a packet dip and a sprinkling of raw spinach leaves. This cost $19 and was extremely disappointing. My partners breaky wrap was much better but would not get it again.
This is the first google review I have ever made because I don't think it is productive giving bad reviews and especially to hospitality businesses after the horrible 18 months they would have had but this was such a horrible experience, I had to share.
I will not be giving my business to the Point Cafe again and I strongly recommend you...
Read moreI came back, and it's amazing the difference the staff can make. We were rushed the whole time, the lady serving tried to cram us into a tiny corner on flimsy plastic chairs, saying the bench table I'd started to sit at was reserved for a group, then gave us no time to consider but kept coming back and pushing us to order, Then an obvious friend of hers arrived, and no comment was made for her sitting on the 'reserved' table for coffee. The thing that really put me off was that when we finished our meal, there was a tiny sign tucked behind other stuff at the register saying there was a 10% public holiday surcharge. Nothing on the daily specials board or menu - no mention prior to ordering, and when I asked if that meant staff were being paid penalties, the girl asked the other lady half-heartedly if that was happening, then subsided into 'I can't say'. The meal was still good, but the surcharge with no notice and 2nd class treatment rankled. Neither my friend or I enjoyed the visit and we've since started going elsewhere.
Original review: Great food, generous size, good service. Not cheap but not expensive either, given the quality of what we were served. As a vegetarian, I had questions about ingredients, some of the desserts weren't made in house so they couldn't answer all of them. They did their best to help, though....
Read moreTo the Manager. Poor visit. With all your Covid safety wiping down of benches between patrons, signing in procedure, I watched as my friend's meal was waved in front of some other patron ... not his meal... so then the waitress stuck MY meal beneath his beard to which he said again, it wasn't his meal. Then the waitress turns around and decides to give us our meals... maybe these meals belong to them.
There were no numbers given to any of the patrons when ordering meals. When paying for my meal, I voiced all of the above to the cashier... to which I was told... we would have replaced the meal for you. I could have returned the meals but as we all know, parts of those meals may be re-used and who knows what treatment my final meal could have received. I chose not to eat the top portion of my burger bun. I said I wanted the staff to be re-trained about the delivering of meals to patrons who had actually ordered those meals. Also, I don't know the law about allowing dogs into cafes but there were two dogs inside. If you want to be COVID safe and charge 15% surcharge as well, please ensure that the safety of patrons IS ACTUALLY SAFE. I will not be returning to this cafe. Labour Weekend Monday. 5...
