Our Mothers Day high tea experience was very poor, we booked the restaurant but ended up over in the corner of the blank function space. No atmosphere and the 3 person table was set so that one of the chairs had its back to the room and was facing a blank wall, so we had to move it around. Once seated no one explained anything and the host disappeared, empty glasses on the table and no one ever offered water. Eventually someone came back and dropped the food on the table, still not explaining what anything was or protocol for ordering drinks etc. We overheard another host explain that you would have to go to the bar if you wanted anything other than tea/coffee to order it themselves - so not even full table service. Someone came over half way through to ask if anyone had asked if we wanted tea or coffee and luckily we didn’t because someone else I knew there waited 30 minutes for 2 coffees before giving up and leaving. The food was also terrible, barely warm and egg or canned tuna was an odd choice for sandwiches so they didn’t get eaten. The sweets tasted stale as well. In short the atmosphere was not what was advertised, the service was non existent and the food no where near the expected standard for $60 per head. Let's start with the good... The homemade baked beans at the breakfast buffet were amazing! Best I've ever had. The burger special with thick cut chips and club sandwich on the bar lunch menu were fairly pleasant. Now the not so good. Dinner was awful. The limited menu with high end food items alludes to a fine dining experience, this was certainly not what we got! The steak was well overcooked and extremely tough. The Pork and Prawns was room temperature when it was served and was poorly cooked also. One of the pieces of pork was incredibly over-cooked and the other undercooked (see picture), yet both were again extremely tough! The scallops were overpriced and rubbery, again served at room temperature. The watermelon gel desert was a flavourless piece of jelly and the vodka infused watermelon that was meant to accompany this turned out to be vodka infused pineapple and was revolting! The restaurant was either understaffed or poorly managed. It took a long time after us arriving, to have our drink order and food orders taken. I asked for a wine list and was told they will bring one right over. 20 minutes later I ended up walking to the bar to get one. Over-all a poor dining experience. If you are eating there, stick to the all day bar menu and get something basic...
