Gasthaus Kohlhof Abtenau — Restaurant in Abtenau

EDIT: 4 years have passed since our last visit to this restaurant, since then the place has been redecorated to populate more diners, a nice balcony was added outside. The experience remains the same: best place we had a meal in all of Asutria. and this was our fourth visit to Austria... The food, the service, the location, the view, everything was simply perfect. If you happen to be around Abtenau, you must not miss this place. Realy.

Great food, for kids and adults, amazing view, recommended to sit outside if the weather allows it. Super friendly family staff and very good service. Reasonable pricing. One of the best places we had a meal in all of Austria. Totally...

The waitress was super friendly and helpful. The view from the restaurant was STUNNING. We took the poachers burger and a milanese deer with pumpkin-sauce pasta. Looking back we would've taken different dishes, not because they were not good but because we both tried deer meat for the first time and prefer other tastes. You could tell the meals were fresh and well made, and definitely tasty. We highly recommend the mixed dessert which consists a few traditional tastes. You should totally visit this restaurant if you're around and looking for somewhere...

Pricey but worth it. Good seasonal selection (e.g. venison in autumn, lamb in spring, etc). I always go with a large group, and between us we usually cover the whole menu, everyone always happy with what they got.

The service was friendly enough but some found it a bit "direkt". It was a matter of discussion among the Austrians at the table. As a Brit, I just ordered off the menu and generally did what I was told and was fine.
