Schmaranz — Restaurant in Bad Hofgastein

We came to this restaurant with very high expectations but they were never fulfilled. To begin the prices are very high and the quality is not in the same lane as the food not even in the same road..

They had their own oragnic beer(therefore the one star) wich is a nice initiative. Than me and my girlfriend Both had the medium rumpsteak wich was made from their own cows. But alot of things went wrong there...

The meat was totally overcooked and was so chewy i'd better eaten my own shoe sole. My gf asked for a bit of mayonaise(wich they didn't have) so instead she got some of their own cocktail sauce but they didn't put the peppersauce on her steak...

She also asked for some salat instead of the bacon beans but she got 2 times salat... One time in a seperate bowl and one time on the plate wich we once again didn't ask...

Than i still had the courage to try blueberry pancakes wich i regretted immediatley because they were very chewy aswell.

Overall the quality is far far below their ridicilous high prices! So tourist be aware and oh yes, they almost don't speak or understand english wich makes it very hard to communicate and the result...

The place looks nothing like the pictures on their website. Do not expect to have a traditional BIO breakfast as you will be served aldi's products consisting in ham, cheese(that looks off), milk and bread that is always on sale in aldi, 3 see through slice of cucumber, 2 quarters of a tomato, and 2 teaspoons of jam. Do not dare to ask for more as you will get the dirtiest look from the owner whom will get ages to bring your seconds. If you are a foreigner you won't be welcomed with their traditional drinks such as schnaps, these are just for austrian bread guests. Restaurant opens only at 3pm, and the food choices are limited. No toiletries, no washing liquid, no sponge for dishes and you have to beg 2 days for hot water so you can have a shower. We will never choose...

The food was delicious everything was so good. The sauce were amazing, the meat was tender and juicy. The desserts were just perfect. The cook was cooking everything over open fire. All of the food came from them. The restaurant is actually a farm in itself. Which provides the restaurant with the ingredients for the food. The staff were very nice and fast. The whole experience was very authentic and very good. I would definitely recommend going there if you're in...
