This is another lovely little restaurant and hotel in the wine streets of Styria. I would really suggest that you take a look at their website before visiting as it is very picturesque. If you are down this way you may be pleasantly surprised if you pop in for a quick lunch. Have a look at the prices before you go in, otherwise you may get a shock. It is or rather can be very expensive.||||We went in as a family as my mother in law knows the owners. She lives just down the valley from this place.||||The menu is definitely Styrian and may not be to everyone’s taste. I found 2 or 3 things on the menu that I could eat and I went for the Zwiebelrostbraten mit Backkartoffeln. For those who don’t know this is roast beef and onions with roast or fried potatoes. ||||At a cost of 14.90 euros this was a little expensive but I presumed there would be a reasonable sized portion. There wasn’t.||||What was presented in front of me was one sliver of roast beef in some gravy with onions placed ever so neatly on the top. Whilst lying beside this was the inside of one whole fried potato about the size of maybe 2 golf balls. The whole thing took less than 2 minutes to eat. ||I must say the beef was very tender and also very tasty, all three mouthfuls of it and the potato was only half cooked and had been fried in schmaltz I think which is a sort of pig fat. An unusual taste to say the least.||||To my way of thinking this was almost daylight robbery for the price and I certainly do not want to return although I feel I may have to due to the rest of my family having a perfectly adequate although also overly expensive meal.||||It is hardly surprising that this place is able to shut for 3 months in winter and 10 days in midsummer due to high prices and...

Read moreWe stayed at the Landhaus at the end of a two month motoring vacation that included stays at many upscale locations in Italy, Sicily, Slovenia, Croatia, France and Germany. This location and experience we rate at the top of our list. The location is idyllic and not visited by many North Americans which is something we happen to enjoy as we seek locations that will give genuine cultural experiences that are also unique. The South Styrian wine route is special in terms of natural beauty and excellent wines. The owners, Michaela and Andreas, are wonderful hosts who go out of their way to make you feel welcome. They spend a lot of time visiting with and trying to get to know their guests. The food is wonderful-lovely presentation, large portions and well priced. Breakfast stands out for being very wholesome and healthy--large and varied. Staff were very friendly, clearly enjoyed their work and interacted with guests.||If you are there during warm weather they have a lovely "natural" pool with comfortable lounges and poolside bar. The view from our room overlooked vineyards and was "heavenly". We can't wait to return for...
