Stayed here over New Year and had the best experience. Location from Salzburg is perfect. Just a short drive away. Even before we arrived the hotel was providing us with lots of valuable information to help us pre-plan our stay, and this continued through the duration of our staying . real local knowledge from parking tips to recommended off the trail stops. The bus stops right outside if you do not have a car. Free parking right ouside. The home cooked food was amazing and we worked our way through the menu happily most evenings. There was always something to talk to them about and they were always checking what we were planning to make sure we got the most of our trip. The Spa is wonderful. UK guests I recommend you google spa etiquette as wearing swimwear is not usual. Wear a towel or nothing. We learnt this quickly . Adult kids liked the gym. If you are there for new year, you have the blunderbuster guns right outside, dont miss it. Buy a schnapps shot from the girls in traditional dress . Sadly, we missed the lantern walk. This was our biggest regret. The rooms are beautiful and ours had a large oven type dome in which was great for warming clothes and towels on. Its obvious now, but worth noting the pool is the outdoor one, and is therefore closed in winter. This was a great base to explore the city but also drive to all the other places Hallstat (pre book your salt mine tour and restaurant for lunch and go early as it gets rammed. Note that the the bone museum is not open every daytime), Wolfgangsee (take a cable car up to the summit), Bad Ischl . I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. Its unique and really made our trip so much better for...
Read moreLocation is far from Salzburg and that was our preference. We wanted a bit of quiet place close to nature and green. This hotel has been able to preserve old architecture while making sure some of the modern amenities are present. The dress code of the staff gives you a sense that you have entered in the era of 1500s. |We stayed there for 3 nights in the first week of August 2025.|The staff are super nice and always helping. They made us felt welcome which was comforting to my 3 year old as well. The rooms are spacious with lots of storage. The parking lot has enough space and is free for the hotel guests. Breakfast is amazing with lots of options (for hot plates like omelettes etc. you will have to ask the staff). Their restaurant has a lot of options (Austrian and Italian) to choose from. My kid felt sick the last night of our stay (due to heat), so we chose to dine at our room and hence ordered room service. They understood why we are in the situation and as a courtesy waived off room delivery charges. |I will stay here again when I...
