If I could rate this restaurant more I would rate it 10 stars. First of all this restaurant is famous for their indoor design which is truly the most unique restaurant design there is in the world, I purposely didn't attach photos of the restaurant from inside because, I don't want to spoiler the inside to you. And if you want more unique design definitely visit the Toilet even if you don't need it. The food was perfect everything from the free starter from the chef to the dessert every part of our dinner was great. I recommend anything local especially with their local cranberry sauce. And finally the service was perfect just like the rest of the experience. The staff was super friendly, helpful when you are seated they ask you your nationality so they bring your countries flag and you can write on it to leave something after you, after that they ahve a small band which will come and perform one of your countries famous national music. For example ours was The Sabre dance by Aram Khachatryan. And lastly they will bring out complimentary toy packets with a toy skateboard, with a ball for boys, and for girls they bring a doll and an interesting ball game. All in all a must. This was by far I think my best experience in a restaurant, even if you are a little far, like in Vienna still this place is definitely...
Read moreMarchfelderhof has to be seen to be believed. It looks like a hoarders paradise inside but, in a strange way, it has a warm cosy feel. 30 minutes from downtown Vienna, you can see why celebrities come out of their way to be here.
We were in Vienna on holiday and, as hubby and I are big fans of the late Austrian singer Falco, we wanted to dine there as this was Falco's favourite restaurant. When I booked, I told them that we were fans and upon being seated, we realised that we were being seated at Falco's private table! The owner - a very eccentric Austrian with Rip Taylor looks complete with moustache - greeted us and asked where we were from and he put a little Australian flag on the table for us. Falco's table/private booth is like a shrine to him: photos, momentos, posters etc of him adorned the booth.
The staff were lovely and friendly and spoke very good English. The food is typical Austrian and is amazing - we didn't need dinner that night! The restaurant has a great atmosphere with photos, ornaments ect on every available space. Photos of many celebrities who have dined here are on the walls.
When in Vienna, this place is a must do. I know I will be returning, even if just to see Falco's private...
Read moreI've been coming to Marchfelderhof for almost 30 years. It's a wonderful place for a special occasion and just as good for an enjoyable evening out. The staff are professional, always polite, and work hard to make every guest feel special and welcome. The decor is the most unique and, in some cases, outrageous (check the toilets), that you could ever hope to find in a restaurant. The menu is huge, all the food is made fresh, and seasonal specialities - asparagus, mushrooms, goose, etc., are all included in the menu. The portions are mainly enormous and very often the guests leave the restaurant clutching a beautifully formed swan which is made out of silver foil. Inside is the part of the meal that was too much to consume on the premises. I love this place, obviously I do or I wouldn't keep coming back. It's 20 minutes out of Vienna, which is close enough to reach easily either by car or by public transport, but is far enough away from the city to feel the benefit of a quieter neighbourhood. Everyone should go here at least once in...
