Laglers wein.kost.bar — Restaurant in Gemeinde Spitz

This was one of the nice and unplanned coincidences of our 4-day holiday in the Wachau region. We had arrived by boat and had 3 hours in the small town of Spitz and wandered around a bit, looking at the beautiful buildings, especially the church with its decorative roof.

While strolling, we were looking for a café or other place to sit down and have some drinks and maybe a small snack - so the wine-bar part of this hotel caught our eye. We easily got a table outside and had very tasty drinks and food. The Marillenspritzer drinks were the best mix we've had in the Wachau - and the food was terrific as well. Excellent tarte flambée with their own twist (seasonal fruit, this time it was strawberries) or bread with black pudding topped with melted cheese.

While we were munching our snacks, I also ordered a flight of 5 of their "Smaragd" category wines. All 5 were very good and we ended up leaving with a few bottles as well - and the knowledge of how to fix our own Marillenspritzer at home in the future to always get reminded of this visit. When we had to drive home, we discussed our favourite moments - and sitting there on your terrace under the apricot tree, looking at the vineyards around us, enjoying our time was a highlight for all 4 of us.
