We visited the Wachau Valley in May and stayed at the Gaestehaus & Heriger Turm Wachau in Weissenkirchen. The Inn/Guest House is up a narrow winding road, which you literally felt like your car was going to get stuck, but that’s typical Europe. We found our way and were greeted by Josie and Hans, Josie has wonderful English and showed us our rooms and offered us a wonderful glass of the local wine Grüner Veltliner, we enjoyed it on the terrace overlooking the beautiful valley below. Josie served a wonderful European breakfast each morning. It was off season, though the guest house was full, we never found a great restaurant in Weissenkirchen, but found a number in the larger town of Durnstein. Very relaxing part of our two week trip, enjoyed biking the Danube through the wineries from Melk to Krems. Would recommend the Gauestehaus & Heriger Turm to others...
