Hotel Zobern has been one of my regular stops during travels between cities. It’s a convenient and pleasant place to take a short break - have a coffee, something to eat, use the restroom, and just recharge for the road. I’ve always been satisfied with the overall service and atmosphere, and I’ve even thought about booking a room for an overnight stay sometime in the future.
That said, I did have a rather uncomfortable experience during my last visit yesterday, on July 31st, around 10:20 in the morning. I was traveling alone by car with my 9-month-old baby and stopped for a quick break. I needed to use the restroom, and on previous visits the staff had kindly given me the key to the accessible toilet, which was extremely helpful when handling a stroller and a small child.
This time, however, the woman at the counter refused to give me the key, saying it was only for people with disabilities. I tried to explain that I was alone with a baby, and that I had used that restroom before under the same circumstances. The regular toilets are located downstairs, they are very narrow, and importantly - there is no elevator. I genuinely don’t know how a mother with a stroller is supposed to get down there, or what I was expected to do with my baby if I didn’t bring the stroller in. I asked where I should leave my baby, and the woman simply said, “Leave her outside.” Needless to say, leaving an infant unattended outside a public restroom is not acceptable.
Eventually, after another guest overheard the conversation and clearly reacted with surprise, she handed me the key - though very reluctantly, as if she didn’t want to let go of it.
I want to be clear: this single experience doesn’t erase all my previous positive ones, and I will continue to visit Hotel Zobern. But I truly hope that the staff can show a bit more understanding and flexibility in situations like this. Being alone with a small child can be challenging enough, and offering a bit of empathy can go a long way, not just for parents like me, but for all guests who might find themselves in a...
Read moreVery rude waitress (older, shorter, with short brown hair)! We ordered our meals, and after receiving drinks, decided to switch table to the one closer to the TV as our national team was playing football. When we asked is it okay to change table, the waitress started swearing in german, rolling her eyes and waving her hands like: I don't care. But she obviously did because there were only a few occupied tables and the rest was free (it was Sunday night). My aunt even tried to explain why we want to be closer to TV, but the lady acted like she didn't hear her. She brought us our food and practically threw plates on the table! Also such a bad knowledge of english! Food was good but because of all of the above, we won't be...
Read moreBeautuful views, friendly staff, and very clean. Only giving 3 stars because the food is overpriced for the portion sizes and the shower in our room was terrible. Due to the design, if you're 5 feet or taller you have to crouch to avoid hitting your head on the ceiling. The tub did not drain properly so I stood in ankle deep water the whole time. The design of the shower head and having no full shower curtain also allowed water to go all over the bathroom floor. I would have taken a bath because the tub is fairly large and deep, but the plug and chain were rusty. Also, the room door and walls in the bathroom are paper thin. Could hear everything from the room across the hall/adjoined to ours. Not much privacy in...
