We arrived at the hotel after a cable car ride up the mountain to be greeted by the super friendly hotel manager who served us with a Tyrolean special house schnapps! The hotel is run by the same family for generations and great care is taken to make you feel welcome and to meet all your needs during your stay. You can tell that they love their work and put their hearts into it whether their job is guest services, the bar, the kitchen, housekeeping, etc. The guests were varied from teenage groups to families to young couples-many of whom return annually for their ski or hiking vacations. It is a well run mountain type family oriented hotel and the rooms are furnished with the basics. Hotel is a good value with half board-you can't eat dinner anywhere else as the cable cars end at 16:30 in the winter season. The best feature of the hotel is the location nestled into the mountain with direct access to ski slopes or mountain hikes and the 6 km sled trail. As for service, any request was taken seriously and addressed in a timely and friendly manner. The half board meals were delicious made from fresh local ingredients in local Bavarian / Tyrollean style and served in large portions. Breakfast was a buffet style and offered the typical Austrian hotel breakfast ingredients and assortment of local cheeses / meats and the option to make your own eggs. Overall a pleasant and memorable family ski vacation in an authentic Tyrollean...
Read moreWe were brought to this hotel by a friend. He said he wanted us to see the best in Austria. How right he was ! From the time we entered, this wonderful family-owned jewel never let us down. The staff was friendly and helpful to us as Americans and were very hospitable. ||||The view is UNREAL. If you want to see the Alps, you need to go here. I sat on my porch each night with the local Zillertal (yummy) beer and watched the sun set over the mountains. I even got a fireworks show in the distance one night ! The air was so fresh and at night I was put to sleep by the bells on the cows in the distance.||||We hiked up the mountain and it was fantastic. Stopped at one of several hiker's rest houses and were brought in and got a beer and some snacks. Very cool !||||We ate a wonderful breakfast each day of many breads, cheeses, and meats. They even had an omlette maker ! For dinner they made fantastic home made meals. Salads fresh from the garden right outside the chalet. We all loved the food and they had the best desserts !||||Robert (the current owner - cook) was funny and always came around to make sure we were all happy. They all understood enough English to function perfectly with us. He even had a few jokes !||||The room was VERY nice and bigger than most in Europe. We had our own modern and super clean bathroom/shower.||||In closing, it is quite a haul up the mountain but...
